It's the Small Things

It's the little things that overwhelm me with thankfulness. How can words describe the sweetness of this holiday centerpiece, handmade with love by Luke?

And perhaps one of the sweetest things I'd like to remember forever is Micah going to bed the other night. He put a blanket over his head and giggled until he fell asleep. I loved those sleepy fits of sheer merriment.

My older kids are definitely out of the "cute" stage and would be mortified if I thought they still could be. But in their maturity they're becoming such wonderfully responsible young adults. My son has the biggest heart of anyone that I know. He's just so tender and loving, and sometimes I have to remember that his feelings are right out there on his sleeve. He'll be a wonderful husband and father someday.

And my daughter is become a very good friend to me. I know this sounds odd, but when we're out shopping together we know how to laugh and have a good time. It's less a mother-daughter relationship and more just two friends out having a good time. And I love that.

The centerpiece is adorable--I especially like the pilgrims. Well done, Luke!

I can't wait for the day to say the same sweet things about my relationship with my daughter. I want to be her Mom first, but definitely her best friend second. Good job that you've achieved that!

Happy Turkey Day!

What a nice centerpiece, displayed proudly! I think they can be "cute" at any age. Having kids who truly like you - is there anything cooler than that?
Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh, what a sweet centerpiece! I have a 7 year old Luke so I had to stop and say how cute this is! I treasure those sweet handmade works of art.
And in addition to my younger son, I have two older girls who fill my heart with joy. Aren't we blessed to have children? Love the name of your blog, it certainly does feel that way when they are younger! LOL!

That centerpiece is priceless! What a keeper, so glad you took a picture.
For all those moments our children frustrate us, there are those endearing moments that warm your heart and allow you to treasure the moment! Your post sounds like one of those moments. :)

I love how you describe your kids. They sound like great people that you are lucky enough to really like on top of loving them because you're their mom. That's a gift...for all of you.
