Resetting the Clock

As a public service announcement, please don't forget to set your clocks back one hour tonight. Forgetting to do this could result in losing an hour of sleep. Unless of course you live with a toddler, and then you suddenly become an early riser.

I like the fall time change better than the spring one. Not the darkness and all that, but the extra hour of morning. That part is great. Traditionally we go out for breakfast before church on Time Change Sunday because we're up anyway. The kids have internal clocks that are incredibly accurate. We have yet to figure out how to reset the kids.

Micah is an early riser. He's usually up between 6:30 and 7:00. He's gearing up (or down?) for the time change. Over summer it's more like 6-6:30. But on Time Change Morning, when the rest of the world gets an extra hour of sleep, Micah is now up between 5:30 and 6:00 because the clocks are set back an hour. So there we are, all dressed up and ready to go. And church doesn't start for several hours. So we head in to town early and enjoy Traditional Time Change Morning Breakfast. You've gotta make silver linings around the clouds somehow.

That is a lovely tradition! My kids do not have internal clocks and because of our squirrely sleep schedules, Falling Back is seriously a holiday for me. WOO HOO!!! I'm thrilled at the prospect of an extra hour of sleep!

Yes, this time change is definitely the best! Although, at the church we go to now, the pastor is not a morning person so in the spring he implements what is now known as Ray-light savings time (his name is Ray). And on Ray-light savings time the clock does not move forward until after the second service, which ends at noon. This way we are on track without loosing sleep. Brilliant, I say! He's a genius!

I am very lucky in that my children actually start preparing for the change several weeks before - I don't know how they know, but they do. They slept until 7:35 this morning, knowing that tomorrow they can rise at 6:35. In the spring, they start waking at 6:00, knowing that soon enough it will really be 7:00.

What a great idea in the breakfast tradition! Have an extra cup of coffee for me!

I hate time clock change - I hate the spring time clock change even more. Not for me - if it was just me, I could handle it - but with kids, they take forever (at least mine do) to adjust to the time change. HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT. But that is one good thing that I hadn't thought of before right noe about moving to Honduras. No changing of the clock. it stays the same time all year round. (well that didn't come out right, but you know what I mean, LOL)

I am one of few people that loves when it gets dark early ... I love this time of year. It makes me feel like I can stop working - settle in, you know. Have a good weekend - see ya.

*Audible groan*

I don't want to change the clocks. Please don't make me do it!

I am trying to be a "glass half full" gal this year and am focusing on the fact that daylights savings means my children will want to go to bed early instead of focusing on the fact that I will be up at 5 in the morning tomorrow. Sheesh! I need to go to bed!

I know what you mean; it's funny how are perspectives change - I used to love that extra hour! So Kayla woke up at what is now 6, but thankfully, for today at least, she fell back to sleep in my bed until 730.

what a neat tradition you guys have of going out to breakfast!

I'm making a note to myself to NOT move the clocks back next year until the kids are in bed...that way I'll get them to bed earlier! Actually, as things go around here, maybe it'll mean that this one day of the year they'll get to bed on time. Sigh.

Oh how painfully early! We are all just confused sleepers for the first little while, some get up early or crash early, others late up or late to bed, no rhyme or reason... I crashed and slept all Sinday afternoon!
