Fun Fotos

Today was the day that we had Micah's 5 year old pictures taken. At home he's not a willing subject of photography. I did realize recently that if I turn off the flash he'll not only stand there, but pose. This makes for nicely posed but dark photos of my baby.

So we turned to the professionals and let them deal with him. Plus we have a portrait plan that needs used. The boy wowed us with his photogenicism. (New word. Like?) He was in complete and total charge of the whole session. He wanted to stand for this one, sit for that, how about throwing the basketball for a little at imaginary hoops? Oh, you still want to take my picture? Okay, I'll smile nicely for this one but not so much for the next one. I'm done with this prop, let's try another. No, not that stool; this block is much better.

And all in all, out of 15 pictures we were shown, there were all of 3 that we didn't absolutely love. The kid can pose, what can we say? But our budget insisted that we narrow it down so we chose only 3 shots and came home knowing that we can view them online and order extras any time. I was going to share them with you, too. But for some odd reason I'm having a hard time accessing them via the 'net, so I had to photograph the photographs. And we all know how craptastic those can be. So here, in all their crappy glory, are the photos of our 5 year old from today.

And this evening? We actually got a horse out to use. I know, weird concept actually riding a horse and all. We've been doing nothing but feeding them and cleaning up after them for months but spring is coming and those horses are going to be ridden this year because we have them for a reason. I just have a hard time remembering what it is on occasion.

I don't think the pictures are crappy... I like the second one. Micah has great hair.

I'm also jealous of the horses. I used to ride all the time, but haven't in years.

On a totally different subject, you mentioned in your profile that you have a fabric addiction. I just want you to know you are not alone. The number of times I buy fabric to have someone ask what I plan to use it for... when really I only bought it because it was beautiful and I had to have it and maybe I'll use it one day, but maybe I'll just unfold my fat quarter and look at it... yeah. I'm addicted too.

Aww. I love it! He's such a cutey. And, way to go getting the horse out for showtime.

Got the shirt. I love it. Hubby did, too. Thanks a million!

I hate that about the photo places. I will go to walmart for the $5 portrait package and spend $150 or more. Each time. They just are all so cute usually.

Machias is super super cute, I love the pictures. And look, no dye on his hands - that I can see anyway ;)

While I, too, love all the shots of your spectacularly handsome little one... I love the first one, where he's included his little best friend! Years from now, you can look at that and what you'll see in your memories are snapshots of all the time he spent playing with Woody. :)

have fun with your horses!

What GREAT photos! He's such a handsome little man.

I'm terrible. I haven't had professional photos taken of Punkin since she was 6 months old! And she's 2.5!

He's gorgeous, Karen!

Wow! Those turned out wonderful! And even your photo of a photo turned out pretty good! He certainly is a handsome guy and a ham for the camera (much better than a petulant three-year old acting worse than the colicky baby).

And I am jealous of the horses, I would love to go for a ride!

What a handsome young man! And cowboy! What boy wouldn't love to play cowboy with a real live horse? That's too cool.

Those pictures are cute. He should become a model and pose for catalogs.

Love the photos!! What a handsome guy you have. Now send Micah over here to have a talk with Tristan I have only been able to get one photo of this guy from an actual photographer ever!! He thinks we are at the hospital for a test or surgery and flips out!
Also I am sooooo jealous that you have horses!

Good grief is that kid ever gorgeous! He really, really is. I love the first photo because it includes Woody, I love the second because it captured his personality so well, and I love the third because it included a basketball (my first sporting love).

Your other kids are pretty darn cute, too, even if they didn't do quite as good of a job of posing/smiling. ;-)

Micah is very photogenic! Where's the pink eye? The signs of a cold? The red/blue dye on the hands?

He is so incredibly adorable.

God bless.

Beautiful horses too... and the kids riding them. You must be so proud.

I almost never use my flash anymore. There are ways around it, you know. And it involves playing with the camera, which is more fun than I thought it would be. :)

I keep seeing you around, so I decided to stop by. Darling little boy, and half a decade. Wow. Gotcha bookmarked.

He is a little poser! He is so cute. I am so jealous you have horses. I always wanted to have a farm for horses when I was a kid. Your kids are so lucky.

I could just eat him up - he's so cute!

An I absolutely CANNOT let Francie see the pics of the horses. I'd never hear the end of it :)
