We're Becoming Seminar Junkies

Remember how I said that I get to sleep in about once a year? As in, when my hubbs and I go somewhere and get a hotel? I don't know about you, but we don't do this on a regular basis, just to ditch the kids. We do this once a year as a treat to ourselves in lieu of Christmas gifts.

Our trip this year was to the wonderful horse seminar, but on the same day that we got home from our weekend getaway I opened my inbox and found an invitation to attend a 2-day seminar on Inclusive Education. Is this not relevant, or what? Actually, it's nothing short of my God at work. We're silently spazzing over what to do with this wonder child of ours, education-wise. (And by silently spazzing, I mean that I call and hassle the public school and his preschool by day, and pray by night.)

So we've quickly signed up for this seminar, hoping against hope that something will reach out and smack us upside the head. That maybe we can glean something valuable from speeches aimed at children in high school, or at least of school age. I'm so excited about this. I'm a learner, a knowledge-seeker. I can face any challenge if only I'm prepared for it. Educating Micah is the new challenge, and I am preparing.

And it will be wonderful to get away again. Because the people in charge of the seminar are getting us a room for the night so that we don't have to drive home and back again. And providing meals for 2 days. I am so grateful. The blessings we continue to receive at the hand of this child amaze me. It's the small things.

So just a heads' up that I'll be gone tomorrow night and won't have computer access. Instead, I'll be learning how to teach my child. And sleeping in on Saturday morning.

Oh - yeah! I am excited for you. I know that inclusion - when done right- can be a wonderful thing for everyone involved. Good for you that you are educating yourself and preparing to do what you need to for your child.

Enjoy the learning experience and the time to sleep in- woo hoo!
