Someone Else is Watching For Me

You know when you're paging through magazines and all the people in there are stick thin and you think "they're not even real! How can anyone birth a child and look like that?" Parenting Magazine sucks that way.

I was cleaning out a closet last week and found the long lost photo albums that I put there when we moved four years ago. The kids and I sat down and paged through pictures of our honeymoon years. My word, was I thin. I'd like to say impossibly thin, but I have the pictures to prove that it really was possible. Annnnd then I had kids. Parenting Magazine really does lie. But it inspired me to take drastic action.

I joined Weight Watchers.

The honeymoon week was great. I was allowed to eat anything (literally) and I lost weight AND inches. Could life be any better? Seriously, after Starbucks, Dairy Queen, cake and a candy bar my clothes are fitting so much better. And I still had points to spare by the end of the week, too. Why didn't I discover the joys of WW years ago?

That was last week. This week, to celebrate my astounding success, they have taken food points away from me. There is no genius to this design. I realize that the goal is to lose weight, but at some point I'll be forced to drink water from sunup to sundown and hope all the water doesn't collect and make me weigh more. The toilet paper bill would double, too.

I'd show WW what I thought of them taking food from me, I'd eat a whole bag of Swedish Fish. You probably already know that it wasn't the best move that I could have made. Thankfully all the local pizza joints were closed on Monday because I had grand plans to make things much, much worse. Instead I sipped bouillon and listened to my insides protest while trying not to eat my pillow all night. It looked rather marshmallowy.

I keep telling myself that it'll be soooo worht it in the end. If only I had some small amount of self control I wouldn't need to pay someone to tell me that I'm fat.

I am impressed with the plan though, grumbling aside. It's practical and realistic, which means that it'll probably be easier to stay with for the duration. I'm already a happier me, and I'm fast on my way to being a healthier me.

Pass the carrots.

Go you! I'm so hoping this works beautifully for you -- WW scares me actually. But reasonable is always good... Can't wait to see the after pics!

Well, I am so happy for you and have toyed with the idea of doing something like that myself. I am anxious to hear how it goes for you!
I will pray for you!

WW works! Seriously. I lost 15 lbs on it. Then I had to get a steroid shot in my back and my body went haywire and I gained 20 lbs in three weeks. woot.

I really need to go back. Follwing their plan is the only thing that works for me

Good luck with that. I'm currently enjoying my slow but steady upward climb of the scale, right now. I'll get back to you in 5 months.

You and me both, mama. I've done WW off and on for the last 10 years. I does work, if you want it to. I lost 40 lbs after Francie was born, and I returned to it after each baby.

I just started back again to lose the annoying leftover Bun flab. Good luck to you!

Woo WW! I'm glad it is working for you, even if they did take some of your points away. You must have been right at the cusp of the point-change weight. I had my lovely amount for months before they dropped me down...I think technically I was supposed to be eating 21, but I cancelled my membership (even though I still eat low fat high fiber).

And I still need to get out for a light mocha frap...

I need the warm weather to come back so I can start eating healthy agian. When I'm wearing sweters and jeans I feel like that is permission to eat junk food and comfort food!

Good for you for taking action! I too look at my pre-kid pictures and wonder how on earth I was that thin! I also marvel at how well rested I looked, but that is a whole other topic.

And I am looking to you for inspiration . . . 3 pregnancies? I bounced back and then some after 3 pregnancies. Number 4? Number 4 is going to take some serious work. Time and energy which I curretnly do not have.

YOU CAN DO IT! It's tough the first two weeks, but after that your body adjusts and you just have to keep track of things. It has worked for me- I've lost a total of 30 pounds two different times (one pre-baby and one post-baby) So you go girl :) :) :)
