Miss Sniz was so kind in giving me this award. Thank you so much!
I'm passing this one on to The Sports Mama, Shellie, Madame Queen, Andrea, Tootsie Farklepants, and Mommy to Those Special K's.
And The Good Flea gave me this award. Isn't she a dear?
I'd like to give this award to The Burgh Baby's Mom, Anglophile Football Fanatic, OhMommy, Kellan, Jessica, Cecily, Colleen and Debbie.
Luke did some paintings that I was very impressed with. Of course, I'm his mama and am supposed to think these things, but he is just 7 and I do think they're pretty good.
Our pride is somewhat diminished though. Luke brought home a wonderful drawing of Gorege Washington. I think it's George's little talked about cousin. There does seem to be a very slight family resemblance. I seriously doubt he crossed the Delaware. He was probably at home whittling a clothespin.
Micah finally learned to drink through a straw. We are incredibly proud of him. This opens up new possibilities for us when we stupidly leave his sippy at home. (He cannot drink from a cup yet either.) Up until last week straws were all sorts of fun for blowing bubbles into other people's drinks. If you were the unlucky recipient of a bubble blowing fest, you were also the one who was sucking up chunks with your root beer. But he finally learned that if you suck long enough on a straw, good things will come your way. And what better to learn this with than a strawberry cheesecake milkshake from Baskin Robbins? He drank 1/3 of the wonderful concoction and we were more than happy to oblige him. Now if he would only potty train...
And Starbucks deserves my applause for business of the week. They graciously volunteered to donate coffee for the concert our church hosted this weekend. But when I stopped to pick it up they'd forgotten about it and didn't have it ready. They immediately put some coffee on to brew and asked if I wanted a drink on the house while I waited. I couldn't resist, but the darned diet made me get a skinny latte. I do hate those things, and they hate me right back. But I couldn't turn down free Starbucks. (See the lack of self control? That's why I'm dieting in the first place.) I only got a tall though because of the mutual hatred. They not only upgraded me to a grande just because they felt bad, they also gave Becky a strawberries and cream frappuccino. I red squishy heart Starbucks.

Congrats on the awards and thanks for thinking of me! You're the best, even if you are going to pick my pockets for more money just as soon as I figure out which shirts need added to the collection.
The drawings? Rock. I'm pretty impressed all the way around.
Welcome to Strawland, btw. It's a wonderful place full of amazing opportunities and devoid of left-behind sippy drama. I love it here, I'm sure you will, too.
Starbucks totally rocks! I'm putting together donations for my son's preschool's fundraiser (the equipment the teachers ask for at a special needs preschool gets expensive fast!), and Starbucks is donating for us, too. Actually, I've figured out a lot of businesses that will donate and how to request the donation if you want/need any tips in the future!
My daughter learned how to drink from a straw in much the same way... we had forgotten any drink for her but had ordered a smoothie. I put my thumb at the top of the straw to hold the liquid in then slowly let it loose in her mouth. After 20 of those, she figured out that the straw gave her yummy things and finally learned how to suck on a straw. My son's therapist taught him how to use a straw, so I was proud of figuring out how to get Little Miss to do it myself! Congrats on getting the straw to work!
If you figure out any potty training tips, please pass them along. I don't think Little Miss will *need* to go to the Early Learning program next year (although technically she qualifies), so she needs to be potty trained before starting her preschool. I didn't have to worry about Mister Man being trained....
And ummm, the drawings BOTH kids did are better than the ones I can do today at 32!
Gee, thanks Karen! I feel very honored to be numbered with those bloggers and that you thought of me!!
I love the paintings. ALL of them. George's cousin is fantastic!!
YAY for Micah and the straw! It's funny how difficult it is to explain how to use one of those things...I'm glad he mastered it on such a yummy sounding shake.
Now I'm hungry for cheesecake icecream and it's after midnight...
THANKS for the award! :) Those drawings are great! WAY better than anything I could do even NOW! haha WTG on the straw drinking! YAY!!!
Congrats on your awards. You deserve them!
Those paintings are awesome! I can't paint like that. Of course, I have no talent for the fine arts....but Luke did great! George's cousin is looking good too! ;)
yeah for Micah! The straw drinking is an important milestone the doctors don't tell you about. Those real life milestones are the best!
Yeah for Starbucks also. Most places would not have been so gracious! Good for them.....it doesn't cost them much to make the coffee so I am glad they are donating it and being good to their customers! That is the best pr they could do!
Oh yay for straws! Way to go, Micah! And I have a distant cousin named Gorege Washington, so don't be hatin'. ;)
Congratulations on your awards! Your shelf is getting kinda full, huh? Do your kids dust those for you? :)
Hi Karen,
Thanks for the award! I'm touched.
It's not just you mama, the pictures are very impressive.
Hooray on the straw, not only does it make your life easier, but it will be so good for Micah's oral motor skills. Especially drinking thick items like milkshakes. I've actually considered trying to get Peanut to blow bubbles through the straw because she doesn't blow out yet. I do fear it backfiring, so I haven't pursued it. Right now if she blows on something because it's hot, she blows through her nose. Don't let her cool your food for you!
Hey Karen, congrats on your awards...more important, the straw. I can't get either one of my kiddos to do that!
I sent you an email with your new look, let me know if you got it:)
Love the drawings! And maybe Gorege is a distant cousin! ;)
Congrats on the awards!!! They are such a great way to show some love!
OK--I think the artwork is awesome! Clearly he has some talent!
Oh, and a straw. I can only imagine. J tries chewing on them, but then again, we are still working on him just holding the sippy cup. We've nearly bypassed the bottle right on by!!! We only used one a handful of times.
Hooray for Starbucks--good to see those HUGE business give a little back . . .
Congratulations on the awards! You deserve them.
And way to go Micah! That is so wonderful.
And Starbucks? Wow!
Congratulations on the awards and hooray for the straw!!! :) That is wonderful Micah!!
Good for Starbucks! Thanks for the warm fuzzy! Love ya girl! woo hoo on Micah learning to use the straw- there are fields of possibilities now. ;)
Congrats on your awards, and thank you so much for deeming me worthy of receiving one as well!
BTW... I kinda clued Jock in on our little plan concerning our kids. He thinks I'm nuts. BUT... he is still planning on college, so there's hope yet! ;)
those are very nice pieces of artwork, luke may have a future in portraiture!
look at you getting all those awards. and thanks for deeming me worthy of one! i will display it proudly.
Congrats.
And many thanks, my friend!
Thanks for the award. You are TOO sweet.
Those paintings are fantastic, though that picture of George did remind me of Bubba's picture of Thurgood Marshall he drew for Black History Month. In Bubba's picture, Mr. Marshall was in need of some serious dental work.
Is my bloglines not working? i so did not miss like 4 posts, did I???
I'll buy the coffee painting! *L*
Awwwwwww....thank you!!! You are such a sweetie!
Thank you for the award!! You are too kind!! I have been out of town and have missed a lot!! I hope your sale is still on!!!
Wow...another award! Thank you very much...you are so sweet!
And I like the drawing of George's cousin. :)
Congrats on the straw-use...such a relief...I know we were tickled when we finally got Gavin to drink from one, too. :)
