They've Got Talent, I'll Admit That Much

In case the kennel doesn't provide puppies this year, there's a backup plan. We could take the Singing Dogs of Meadowbrook Kennel on tour.

Seriously, if I could tolerate barking dogs for longer than 1.5 minutes it would be something to consider. I have no idea what triggers this, but about once a day the kennel dogs break into singing.

It starts innocently enough with a bark, bark, bark. But there must be a certain join me catch to it because within the first few barks the whole kennel is caught up in the action.

Pretty soon you've got a yip, yip, yip added to the bark, bark, bark. And a long, drawn-out howl. No, wait, two howls. One soprano and one alto. You think I'm jesting, but I swear it's true. And then the boys join in. One gives a deep bass bark and the other more of a woof-woof in tenor.

I am really impressed by their musical abilities, and I have to think the neighbors must prefer this to their mundane bark-barking. Now if only we could get them to sleep through the night.

Oh, at night? Bad dogs! No biscuits for you!

I hate to tell you, but the last flower on that post was dianthus. :)

You're going to make money off those pups one way or the other, huh?

Sleep is far too important to me, I would pay you to get them to sleep through the night!

Hmmmm.

Maybe you could just record and burn a CD and post it on UTube, then sell it in your store. You never know what people will buy....

Hey! You could sell it to people like me, who don't have dogs, to scare off thieves!!! I know brillant, right? :)

I think it's time I went to bed.

So the Diberts have a farm...
E-I-E-I-O
And on this farm they had some dogs...
E-I-E-I-O
With a woof-woof here...
And a bark-bark there...
Here a yip....
There a howl...
Everywhere the Canine Choir..
So the Diberts have a farm...
E-I-E-I-O

Sorry! That's the first thing that popped into my head, and I couldn't resist!

it is always good to have a back up plan- I think you could make millions off the singing dogs. After a few shows, you could probably get the dogs a sound proof kennel- then the neighbors wouldn't mind! ;)

Sports Mama totally scooped me. I thought the exact same thing!

So glad I only have two barking idiots to deal with . . .

I think we need to hear this. It sounds truly entertaining, especially since we can turn it off when we want to....unlike real dogs!

That's a good, positive way to look at dog-barking! It doesn't bother me in the light of day, but wake me up out of a deep sleep in the middle of the night, and I am slightly (ok, a little more than slightly!) angry and upset and wish all kinds of plagues upon those dogs!

Thanks for weighing in about my curtains!

I'm envisioning that they are breaking into song ala Disney, like Lady and the Tramp. You know when all the dogs in the pound start singing and ba da da dum-ing?

He's a tramp... but we love him...

Your tolerence level for barking is far superior to mine! I could only go about 30 seconds!

Just curious, what types of dogs do you breed?
We don't breed, but we have one dog who struggles with a barking obsession---our kerry. But that's a terrier for you. And being a KBT she is never quiet, even when she isn't barking.
Makes us appreciate the podengo. Almost never a peep, and so when she decides to bark not usually bothersome. The maticar on the other hand.....ai.

Oh, I think I would go insane!! What a great outlook you have on your barking pups!! It's funny, we live at least a 1/2 mile from our nearest neighbor and I'm sure that my dog is bothering them when she gets to barking. That's from living in town toooooooo long. Enjoy your dogs while you can!!

I like the E-I-E-I-O song that the sports mama wrote up there.

I'm with Madam Queen. We need an audio. Maybe you could sell the record, like the jingle bell dogs.

Everyone here is barking and it isn't nearly as musical as you describe. We aren't as hairy either.
