That's an incredibly catchy title because I'm incredibly exhausted. I'd love nothing more than to be sleeping rather than posting (no offense) but Micah is wide awake so that's not an option.
His surgery went well and I greatly appreciate all the prayers and well wishes sent our way. We also got his C-spine x-rays done because the doctors refused to do the tonsillectomy without it. He's good, and that's one less medical procedure to cross off our list.
His recovery was long and drawn out. He slept a lot. And then slept some more. He refused to eat or drink and as that's the stipulation for going home we stayed much longer than we could have. We already knew we were going to be staying overnight. Downs will do that you know. Because of his DS they wanted to monitor his breathing overnight to be sure he was OK. He was. That's good.
There must have been a full moon that I knew nothing about because the count in the floor nearly doubled overnight according to the nurse. The rooms were full to bursting, but we had a room all to ourselves. We have the staph infection to thank for that. Remember that staph infection a month ago that made us cancel the tonsillectomy the first time around? Yep, that one. Becuase it's in their charts that he was tested for MRSA, he needed to have 3 negatives in order to not be considered highly contagious. So we were under quarantine. And they ran a MRSA test. It came back negative. That's good, too.
In the end we just got tired of waiting for the boy to decide that he was going to eat so we force fed him, poured liquid down his throat and called a nurse. He's now home and all hacked because I won't let him eat chips. It'll be a fun, fun few weeks. I can just tell.

Glad it went reasonably well. Chin up for the next while. I'm smiling for you! :-)
You are truly a remarkable woman! Lots of prayers coming yours and Micah's way!
All things considered, I'm glad it went well! Hang in there! I'll be thinking of you and praying. Should I send a box of freeze pops your way? ;)
Popsicles.
Glad you got home quick before you got another infection. Eat, drink, pee, and poop those are the magic words that get you back to Kansas.
Glad you are home and back to being a mean mom :) Hope things aren't too bad for the next few weeks!!
Whew! Glad to hear you're home. You should definitely get some popsicles for yourself. You deserve them and much, much more.
Oh Karen, I feel for ya! My oldest had her tonsils out at three. She is the strongest willed child I know personally. She wanted a cheese burger on the wasy home from the hospital. Good luck with the chip battle. I'm so happy to hear that everything went well.
hoping it goes smoothly for you the next little while!
Sounds like you will be busy for the next few days. Glad to hear that Micah is home and doing well!
Kimmy
I hear chips are delicious when supersaturated with water and run through a blender ... :-)
Glad he's doing well!
I am glad to hear he is home, sounds like you will have a busy couple of days keeping the chips away. Give him many hugs, from me.
Oh, dear. Is the chip thing going to get old fast or what? I'm glad it all went well.
Karen - I'm so glad to hear that the surgery went well for Micah! If only the recovery had gone as easily, but I'd much rather take a child who doesn't want to eat than one who doesn't come out of surgery well. Patience hat for the next few weeks (we read a Thomas book today about Emily and how patient an engine she is, can you tell?)
YES! For good news. So happy to hear things are going well.
Big hugs and happy thoughts!
I'm glad thing went well for him. We'll be his old self in no time. Kids are pretty amazing like that.
Karen, it won't be weeks! You'll actually be surprised, in just a few days, to find Micah totally back to normal.
So when do the kids go back to school? :)
Glad everything went well, and that Staph ended up being a semi-blessing in that it saved you from getting a middle of the night roommate.
So many postitives to be thankful for!! Hope you get some respite care so you can simply sleep without worry.
Glad you're both home and he's eaten/been force-fed. Hope he recovers quickly and you get some sleep.
Glad things went smoothly!
I would be upset if you wouldn't let me eat chips. In fact, it's 8am and I am going to eat some chips and drink a coke right now.
So glad that everything went well!
I hated those hospital wake-ups with Fiver -- he gets a really BAD anesthesia hangover that makes him look like an incoherent junkie. Complete with flailing and punching and screaming. Oy!
but on the bright side, once he wakes up all the way, he is just begging to eat so we can usually book it out of there before they pull out the soft restraints! :)
Hope the recovery goes smoothly.
I'm so glad it went well! Who knew there would be a sliver lining to the staph infection?
I hope he recovers well. I'm sure it won't be easy, but I hope it's as smooth as it can be.
Oh, I hope he heals quickly! You are an amazing woman, I don't know how you deal with it all and still find time to write entertaining posts.
Hi Karen - glad to hear that Micah had his surgery and it went well and the other tests came back good too! Take care and hang in there - Kellan
So thank God for healed Staph infections! ;) I'm glad you got a private room since you had to be there... and I'm glad you're home and he's doing well... AND I'm glad you're not giving him potato chips! hahaha (It made me laugh that he even asked for them!) We're continuing to pray that he's back to 100% soon!
I'm glad everything went well and the x-ray came back good. At least you got something good out of the staph infection! I hope he recovers quickly. Glad you're back, it's been quiet without all your family updates! I missed them.
Glad he and you are home. Let us know how the next few weeks go. Max is such a picky eater and after he has this done in a couple of weeks- let's just say I will be having fun too!!
Prayers for a fast recovery!
A private room is truly a blessing. So is a healthy kid. I'm glad things are going so well.
I am so glad Micah is getting better and the hospital stay went okay.
I have a lot of back reading to do, I am a bit behind this weeks.
I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to comment on his surgery posts; we were in OK and my inlaws connection was very spotty. I was reading when I could though and keeping Micah in my prayers, even if you didn't know I was :) I'm so glad to know everything went well and his MRSA came back negative!
