In case one of you may have missed it, I love Christmas. I love the decorations, too. Most notably, the trees and the stockings. I have a thing for shiny balls, too. Those are wonderful for filling baskets, bowls and vases with. Toss in a candle or a string of lights and it's the most fun ever. Besides the trees and stockings.
This year I have the tiny window tree that previously graced the bathroom. I also am loving the hat wearing lamp. That hat was worn by Luke and Micah at the holidays for the past 5 years. It is officially too small for my children's heads' now but I couldn't bring myself to part with it.
Also in the living room is my brand new Country tree. While the ornaments are merry enough, the tree lacks in nice. The thing is fug. But I have it anyway because I've got my jingle on.
There's the big tree, of course. In the living room. The thing is absolutely gorgeous and required little fluffing. Gotta love that. And it features my huge, shiny balls. I love those things. Also? Sam's Grandma's crocheted snowflakes. I love those things even more.
The hallway has it's own tree this year. I had to go out and buy that thing at full price, but it was well worth it. It's simply sporting lights because I got lazy at that point. Next year it'll have a theme. The lazy theme prevails this year - those reindeer and white trees should be out front in the lawn. You can clearly see that they're not.
I have a bigger tree in the bathroom this year. While it didn't get peed on, there was that flushing incident with the ball. Thankfully it was a one-time deal.
And last (but not least) I've got the set of Alpine trees in the dining room. They were sporting tiny glass balls but the dogs ate them. That was a bit scary, but I learned to A.) not put glass balls on trees located next to the dog's kennel and B.) if dogs eat glass balls to give them bread to eat. A lot of bread. Thanks, Kim! I generally count these things as one tree, but in reality it's a set of 4. If you're wanting to count them individually that would bring the count up to 9. I also do not count the one in the breakfast nook and the one in our master bath because there are absolutely no decorations on them. A tree needs lights to count as a tree. Otherwise it's a shrub.
The stockings are another entity of Christmas that I just cannot ignore. I thought I had more than I did, but Becky checked the list twice and only counted 37. I've got my big, knitted one that's my very favorite.
And I've got the Disney stockings that we hang on each bedroom door. Everyone has their own, even the dogs share a Pluto one. These are Micah's favorites and he frequently drags me upstairs and points, wanting me to get them down so that he can play with them.
I hang stockings on curtain rods, and in bare windows in lieu of curtains.
And just because I can, I use stockings as wall decor. If Santa fills each one, I'll be doing good.

I'd like to pause these blog comments to bring you all a public service announcement :
The hat on the lamp is a FIRE HAZARD. Please keep a very very very very very very very very close eye on it.

Did you bid on the plush stocking? And if a boy were to pee on a lit tree, would he be electrocuted?

LOVE IT. Just love it. It makes me feel warm and cozy. Can I come out to your place to cuddle with the dogs under one of the trees?
Looks fantastic Karen!!
Wow you're jingling, Karen. A lot. In a good way. And I think I'm going to use some of your jingle to pretend I have more of my own ;)

What a beautiful home and so festive!
Really, I have got to learn how to do the whole ribbon in the tree thing. It looks so pretty, and I can never manage that.
Probably a good thing I only have girls, huh? No ribbons there!
