Boys vs. Girls, Teenage Edition

Becky told me that she needed new razors the next time I was in town. We were discussing what brands and styles we like best when Josh walked in. (I know you're jealous of the deep and spiritual conversations that I have with my daughter. Don't try to hide it.)

Josh, bless his heart, is a pre-adolescent boy. He's starting to learn about the world around him, but in a strictly boy kind of way. To him, it's all about flexing and flatulating, food and fun, and the all new world of experimenting with deodorant, hair products and cologne. Shaving is something he dreams of doing someday.

So you can imagine his shock and awe when he heard that Becky shaves. "You shave?" he asked incredulously.

Becky answered, "Uh, yeh." *insert much eye rolling* "Girls shave their legs and pits."

Josh couldn't believe that his sister beat him to the hair growing punch. "Lucky! You get armpit hair."

"Yeh, Josh. That's what I've always dreamed of." We nearly drowned in her sarcasm.

Oh, I can't wait! That sounds like such a fun stage. But hey -- at least they're talking, to you and to each other.

And I just saw that mailbox shirt. I LOVE it. Are you making it long sleeve or only short sleeve?

At least no one brought up shaving down under... then he'd really be jealous.

Our eight year old tries to impress his ten year old sister with his arm pit peach fuzz. She laughs and pulls up a pant leg.

No shaving here, yet.

The one time I played "good big sister", I taught my little sis how to shave. I later read in her diary (BAD big sis!) that it was the best day of her life. Wow. What a life.

First of all, your site loaded perfect for me today? Was it something you prayed for or was it my prayers? AND, does it matter whose it was at all? lol
Secondly, that was adorable! Having never had a boy makes it even funnier for me. Bless his heart, his time will come soon enough and he will HATE shaving. ;-)

Okay, so I have a fourteen year old girl and all I could think of at the end of the post was - So, which razer DO you like the best? I know, not the point. Sigh.

I almost died of laughter. Literally. Hacking cough + hilarious post = OMG I CAN'T BREATHE. But it was well worth it. I can't wait 'til I have kids and they start talking about this stuff.

BWAHAHAHA ... poor Josh. And yet when he finally DOES have enough hair to shave, he won't want to.

Never thought of it that way ... why do girls get so blessed to hit puberty way before the boys?

I guess boys do start to stink before they actually WANT to take showers (and impress the ladies with smellin good).
