Luke is a collector. His A#1, all time, ongoing collection is of rocks. We're not even talking fancy rocks, we're just talking rocks. Rocks from the beach, rocks from the park, rocks from the driveway, they're all the same to him. In fact, when we were on vacation in Arizona last year his prized souvenir was - you guessed it - a rock. He didn't even go for a shiny piece of turquoise. It was just a plain old rock.
But he has other collections, too. He has the Steelers collection proudly displayed in his room.
And the "fad" collection was the teeth.
But those teeth have now been replaced. Well, sort of. He still has the teeth, he just doesn't cherish them enough to proudly display them any longer. Now? The collecting rage is used eraser crumbles. You know - the stuff left on the paper when you're done rubbing out your mistakes? Yeh. That. He ever so carefully scraps them off the paper and into a Ziploc baggie.
I have no earthly idea what one could possibly use those for. Or want those for. But I'd rather not psychoanalyze the brain of an 8 year old boy. Some things are better off a mystery.

Boys are totally weird.
Umm- OK!
Yeah, boys are weird!
At least it's sanitary. He could be collecting gum or something else gross.
It could be worse, and since he's only 8, it probably will be one day soon.
It would take more than eraser leftovers to make me venture into the mind of an 8 year old boy.
Boys are weird.
This one makes me laugh! My highly gifted fifth graders always went through a faze of saving the eraser crumbles much to my bewilderment!
Eraser bits? Wow, that is a unique collection! My 6 yr old is fond of ordinary rocks and sticks. He calls them his friends, "Rocky Rock and Sticky Stick." Poor kid, his best friends are yard waste.
the fake teeth is cracking me up...and it's a little gross, i'm not gonna lie.
This whole thing with collecting can only lead to bad things. I know this because I am married to a collector. Of animals. You might know a little something about that. ;-)
Yep, as you know I have two girls and the boy. My best friend has four boys and about every other week she tells me, when I question him, that my son is okay, he's just a BOY. I don't get them. I love them, I just don't get them. I think the Lord gave me one just to keep me guesing. :) If I had three girls I would have been WAAAY too sure of myself.
Well... first I was going to say that I thought it was cool that he was a cheap date. Then I saw the Steeler stuff and thought he was at least collecting cool stuff, although no longer cheap. Then we move into the ummmm interesting realm with the teeth. The eraser droppings? I got nothing there :)
my jay is just like your luke. except for your luke has much cooler collections. those teeth rock!
oh my goodness. too bad i didn't know about his eraser crumble collection earlier today when i went through several pencil erasers....
ewwwwwwwwwwww! I hope my son never takes up with that collection
I love the bubba teeth. How sad, they are not on display!! LOL!! Boys are interesting, I tell you. The things they come up with.
