I have to tell you that I'm getting quite frustrated with the way my projects are not happening this summer. I'm a morning person, mind you, and apparently I'm a spring person as well. Who knew? If projects don't get done in the early part of the day, or year, they just don't get finished in a timely manner.
Unfortunately I have zero projects done and it's now July. This is not good, people. Not good at all.
I started with the building of the pond early this spring. How exciting. After that hole was dug and the pond set and leveled, I had to wait until the ground dried out in order to back fill without too much settling of the dirt. I waited. And waited. Annnnnd waited.
We had a rainy spring.
I got it completely back filled and made a marvy stone waterfall that I concreted into place all by myself. (Go, me! I love learning new stuff.) And then it rained a LOT and that pond floated up out of it's hole in the ground, out from under the stone falls, and right out of my plan. I have to start all over. Chip out the falls, pump out the pond water, re-dig the hole, re-level things...
That project is sitting in pieces in my yard and may stay that way for a very long time. I only have so much patience for things.
The living room paint is done, so I started in on the dining room today. I've painted with red before and had no problems, but this red is problematic. I'll need a whole lot more red than I originally bought, and gray primer because white primer shows through and tints the red pink. Not so good. What was originally a $13 project is now a $65 project.
I'm not happy about that. At all.
So the back yard is a mess because of the pond litter everywhere, the side yard has several tons of river rock piled in it waiting to be used, the dining room is currently being renovated, and the rest of the house is a yard sale collection site.
Oh, yeh. I've decided that we should try to sell some of our trash to people who will think it's treasure. Can I just say that I have really bad timing with things? There is not a room in the house at this point where I can go to get away from chaos.
If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. Or something like that. My family is now wishing that I wouldn't have started so many projects at one time.

No! No! Have the paint store tint the white primer with some of the paint color! It will save you a coat or 2!
Hmmm... I think I get that spring thing. Of course we don't really HAVE spring in Chicago for more than a couple days or so. I think that's my new excuse ;)
Good luck with all those many projects. I'm still working on clearing off the old entertainment center that is now the keeper of ALL THINGS. Oh, I started that one last June. *sigh*
You can have your primer tinted to match it helps a lot. The brown looks pretty! It'll be ok remember your the lady who had a toilet in the front yard for awhile and a trailer in the back....hee hee
you know it's ALWAYS more than we bargain for every time. I think it has somethin to do with this guy Murphy.
Bless your heart! It sucks to feel like nothing is going to get finished. EVER.
Be sure and get red tinted primer when you buy it. It ends up looking kind of raspberry pink, but is sooo much easier to cover with red. And I have always had a hard time painting with red. Needed multiple coats each time. Red's a mean mistress. ;-)
Oy. That sounds like how things go around here . . . I start one project, only to realize there is another project that needs to get done first, and then in a matter of minutes, it looks like my house has been turned inside out. I hope the pond is worth all of the work - though I am sure it will be!
Ug. Sounds rough. But kudos to you for even starting those plans..I make plans...not so good at starting them :)
I am in the middle of a project right now...and the whole house is a mess. Mama ain't happy:(
I have lots of projects going on all at once too. I wonder if I will ever finish them in a timely matter.
Oh you're having fun. The beauty of working now is that I don't start projects the way I used to. Of course, I haven't finished my dining room wall, either ...
I hate when there are too many projects at once and none of htem are getting completed. Major bummer.
