Three weeks ago something happened here that was both monumental and mundane. It's something that people all over the world do every single day, and yet it was as big as the first step on the moon.
Three weeks ago, Micah put on underpants.
It was his idea, and because of that it's been rather successful-ish. For three weeks, the boy has been wearing underpants daily. Granted, we're just talking about him staying dry for now. The second step generally takes longer with every kid I've ever known, and Micah's life stages last longer than normally developing kids' do. But he stays dry. And we're thrilled.
It's taken me three weeks to talk about this because the jinxing factor is great. One just can't take the chance of spoiling it. It's been 7 years in the making.
But it's that second step that needs completion before we can call it a success. We're making progress. He started out by going into the bathroom to do the job. From there he graduated to actually taking down his pants and aiming his stream into the bowl while dropping a deuce onto the floor. (Thank goodness for linoleum.) He actually did this in church last week but I was completely unaware because he was in the men's room and I was not. I found this out because I was informed that someone found a brown lump on the floor there. I'm guessing it was Micah, because otherwise there is another random pooper in the church. That would just be too weird.
Small steps. Teeny tiny baby steps. And yet a giant leap in the Rocking Pony home.
I've probably jinxed it all now.

That is fabulous, Karen & Micah!!! Sean did the "standing turd" for many months, but I agree, lino serves a purpose.
