Thoughts to Ponder

Since today's post was so heavy and thought provoking and all that kind of stuff, I thought you could use something a little lighter to ponder before heading in for the night. I, for one, am totally exhausted. Who knew two hours of gift wrapping could be so tiring?

As I was wrapping gift after endless mountain of gift, it occurred to me that Santa used the exact same wrap and gift tags as I did. Huh. Coincidence? Or just plain thoughtless stupidity? I am NOT rewrapping them. At least not tonight.

It was a breakthrough day. I am beside myself with thoughts of what could be coming. We had an accident-free day for the first time in 3 months. There was no dog pee on my floor! The stupid spaniels may just be catching on to housebreaking.

I was drinking hot chocolate the other night and Micah dumped the last of his bottle of bubbles in my mug. I guess it just wasn't frothy enough. Yum.

Luke was reading a book about his classmates. One girl's last name was King. "It should be Queen," he said. "She's a girl."

Micah asked me to put in a Signing Time video this morning! Is this not the biggest breakthrough whatsoever?! And the best part? He was signing along with them! Now I'll need to sit down and watch them as well so I know what he'll be trying to tell me. I am ever and ever so excited about this. But I've also realized that it's his "magazine" of videos. He puts it in when he needs to "sit for a while". This is both good and bad. I'll now need a TV and VCR in the bathroom, or bring the potty chair to the living room. At least he's giving me a sign. Get it, sign... (Okay, I'm tired, remember?)

And here are some fun things I've worked on this week. "Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat!" Oh, wait, we're not talking about food right now. But incidentally, Puppy Chow is all mine. Apparently the name is freaking the kids out. I should start referring to anything chocolate as dog food.

And without further ado, here are the goods. Some things I made for Josh:

And Luke's handmade set:

Sadly, I don't have pictures of Becky's before I wrapped them. Her jeans rock, for a teen at least. I've bleached graffiti all over them, like tic-tac-toe games, BFF, hearts and stuff like that. Kids write all over jeans nowadays so I'm hoping that wearing the graffiti permanently as part of the pants will be in style.

And I didn't get Micah's done yet. I just ran out of steam this week. There are still 3 days to do it before Christmas so we're good. Have a great evening!

The clothes are great! And WTG, Micah!!

I hope you get some rest and don't worry about the Santa paper, I did the same thing this year...

That is awesome for Micah!!! The clothes look really good too! You need to take a picture of the jeans when they come out of the wrapping paper. I would like to see them, because they sound like something my older daughter would like to wear.
I hop you get some rest tonight. You need and deserve it ;)

Those videos are great. Supposedly ASL got the video-maker's second daughter (the one with CP) communicating much earlier than expected.

yeah Micah! Yes definitely watch them as you'll be able to pick up the signs so easily!

Wrapping presents does take forever, is tiring, and makes my back hurt!

I loved baby sign language (not that we taught or knew a whole lot) it came in so handy with the kids when they were tots. I can understand why it would be so exciting for Micah to learn more/new signs! I hope he learns a lot (and uses them)! :)

You are awesome! Look at all you've done! I'm impressed and amazed. You've definitely earned yourself a nice morning to sleep in. Now all you gotta do is convince your husband of this! :)

That's wonderful about Micah and the videos and signing - wow! I loved the things you made the kids - aren't you Miss Crafty and aren't they cute? When do you have the time to do all that!! Glad about the pee-free day - good luck with that! See you later. Kellan

Oh- we have just left the roll of paper out for "santa to use if he needs" --don't think they notice anyway!!! Love Micah's stuff!

Merry Christmas blessings,

Really good work on those clothes. You have good ideas.
I'm so glad to hear there are still parents that discipline. We seem to be a dying breed.

Yeah, I had to buy a whole separate kind of wrapping paper just for Santa. It's has pictures of Santa all over it, so it's kind of cute. The "leaving the roll out for Santa" is a great idea, though.

Yay for Micah and Signing Time. I taught Bubba and Punkin a few signs myself and it was a big help in just being able to communicate.

When we use the same paper as Santa we just tell the kids we must shop at the same store! Everyone shops at Wal-Mart, don't they?

Those jeans are too cute! I love the little rocker ones.

Where do you find the time to make the clothes? I can hardly get my own blog done let alone sew. Maybe it's the baby that keeps me from bringing out my sewing machine.

What a great day for Micah. I'm sure 2008 will be an amazing breakthrough year for him.

Enjoy the family and the holiday season.

Again, I'm wondering if there are 28 hours in your days. I can't figure out for the life of me how you manage to get so much done! You must be WAY more efficient than me.

Yay for signs! Everybody needs a quiet time activity, and good for Micah for making his something that can help him learn words. It's probably a million times more productive than my sitting on the couch trying to figure out what I should do with the 13 seconds of quiet time I see to have stumbled into.
