And We're On In 5, 4, 3, 2...

I think I'm back. We've been battling as much illness with the computer as we have with kids lately. We successfully knocked out a virus (yeah, us!) but it was the spyware that was our undoing. We tried several different programs to take them out, to no avail. And the worst of it was that these pop-ups would just pop up (despite blockers and high security settings) and these new screens were semi relevent to what I was googling. Remember when we spent a day looking for fertility vets? That was the beginning of the end for the computer. We could no longer allow the children to even be on the internet at all as all sorts of near-porn with graphic pictures would just be right there on the screen as you were typing along in a blog post. I'll bet you had no idea, huh? We finally have it all under control thanks to my new friend, Norton. He's a cool kinda guy like that.

I think we have the family illnesses under control, too. My daughter's sore throat persisted all last week and she was fevery over the weekend. Low-grade and only an hour here or there, but fevery nonetheless. She also lost her voice. I took her to the DR yesterday and they did a 24-hour strep test. I kept her home again today since it would be terribly awkward to have had to call the school and say "um, I need you to pull my daughter from class and I'll be down to pick her up in a few minutes. She's highly contagious and we just found out." But it turns out that we don't know if she's so highly contagious or not. The 24-hour test is "planted and growing" but they don't have the results back yet. Give it another 24. I'm going with NOT and am sending her to school tomorrow. She got her voice back and we're keeping our fingers crossed that she doesn't contaminate anyone. I think we're on the mend!

But we're taking a dog to the vet tomorrow. If it's not one thing it's yet another. Remember the lab who had stiff back legs? Still stiff. Still not in any pain whatsoever, but it's been a while and I can't ignore it any longer. Here's hoping that we dont' have anything serious, no poop in the car and no major bills.

And I have to share a story about our dear daughter. Sometimes, when she's very stressed or sick, she sleepwalks while having a nightmare. At first this freaked us out, but we've come to realize that there's little we can do so we just try to calmly get her back to bed. So the other night I'd just barely dozed off and she comes into our room with that look on her face. We've learned that she's fast asleep even though her eyes wide open. And she's got a certain worried look about her. She rarely can say an entire sentence - it's just disjointed thoughts. But this was a rare night and we got a complete question in one try. "Is it just me, or is my leg wet?" I really feared touching it in case it wasn't just her, but had no choice really. I mean, if she wet herself she'd need to change. Thankfully it was dry. So was her bed. But this has been the catch-phrase all weekend.

Glad your back! I used to sleep walk when I was a kid. My dad worked nights and would get home at 3:00 a.m. He zoned out watching t.v. and I walked in front of him, out the front door and back in with the dog. I did this a couple times and my parents had to start barricading the door until I stopped.

Oh my son is finally better after having a fever for 5 days last week. He is still so tired that he actually sleep walked last night! I went in his room at 7:30 to see if he wanted to work out with me and he was sleeping. At 8:00 he came down the basement and looked at me with that blank look and didn't remember it today. I think I'll get my camera ready for when it happens again. Sometimes it's funny, isn't it?

Yippe! Glad to hear everything and everyone is on the mend.

Um, about the sleepwalking and the nonsensical talking. I still do this. Last week I woke up Hubby and insisted that he was going to fall into the hole that had opened up in the middle of our bed.

One day I'm gonna blog about what I did when I was in residence at school. Oy, not good. :)

Holy cow, you've had a busy few days. If my daughter had asked me that I'm pretty sure I would have asked her back, "is this a trick question?"

Good luck with the vet and the growing strep test.

I'm glad I've never dealt with a sleepwalker - the idea creeps me out. We seem to be having a respite from ill health around here, too, thank goodness....

You really had me laughing out loud with this post. Especially your daughter and the catch phrase. My Little Guy (10) talks in his sleep all the time, and my husband will talk and sometimes walk. When he was a kid he'd pee in drawers in the bathroom in his sleep, or in his dresser, so I understand the need to check her leg and bed. :)

I really enjoy when they talk in their sleep, asking questions and playing along. Once I've had my fun I start making calming noises, shushing and asking them to just go back to sleep, and they drift right off.

GAH! I'm so glad you're back though. I was anticipating DAYS without you. So, whew!

That story about your daughter is hilarious! I may even adopt that phrase myself.

Glad everybody is (maybe) on the mend. Bubba just woke up at 6:00 am crying because his ear hurts. Looks like ANOTHER trip to the doctor. I swear, I wish I could just prescribe amoxicillin myself!

I'm glad I'm back, too. I anticipated days as well, Madame Q or I woud never have bothered saying I was off-line.

I had no idea there were that many sleepwalkers out there. Flea - peeing in drawers! EWWW!

CJ used to do that "look " thing - it always freaked us out.

Thankfully, he outgrew it...althought both he and Connor have FULL conversations in their sleep - OUT LOUD!!

I'm so glad it was just a little spyware, and that Mr. Norton was able to take care of it. Mr. Norton is my lifelong enemy, so at least he's good for something.

Sleepwalking would freak me out. Although, my little brother sleeps with his eyes open, and I was always able to tolerate that. Of course, it was only because I liked screwing with him to see if he would notice that something was flying towards his face.

One of my sons (and I will not say which to protect the not so innocent from future embarrassment) slept walked into the kitchen late one night while Mr. Farklepants and I watched tv, he opened the cabinet under the sink where the trash can is kept, and promptly whipped it out and peed. Then closed it and went back to bed. We just sat there and watched with stunned yet amused looks on our faces. Then cracked up!

p.s. I'm feeling really guilty! I totally thought I'd left a comment or two on your blog yesterday. One in your going off line post and the other in your PG-13. I even checked out my own rating and was shocked to find it is NC-17. Oh lawdy!

A computer that isn't functioning properly is so frustrating! Hopefully it will be smooth sailing for awhile.

Sleepwalking is scary. My mom was a sleepwalker. One time she walked out the front door and slept on the front lawn. Hopefully your daughter doesn't venture out!

That's a cute catch phrase - I may just use it around my house! My nephew sleep walks and my SIL were just talking about how creepy it can be. I'm glad you are getting the illnesses under control and the computer virus thing! Take care and I'll see you later. Kellan

Great catch phrase! I can't imagine having a sleep walker, although that is what I feel like I am doing for the first 2 hours of the day. Not sure if my eyes are open or not. Hope all the viruses leave your home soon.

Glad everyone (and everything) is on the mend...we'll keep our fingers crossed about the dog!

Oh, and somehow I am still rated at "PG". Guess I didn't bomb and hurt anyone, eh? :)

Glad to see that your absense from the internet was short-lived!

I can see how that would become the catch-phrase of the week - what a great laugh that must have given you, after realizing, of course, that her leg was indeed NOT wet! :)

I finally found you! I've seen your store and couldn't figure out how to get to your blog. Love it!!

Our computer got a virus once we lost EVERYTHING! Ol' Nortons the best isn't he. We haven't had trouble since, knock on wood.
