Listen, My Children, I Have Something To Say

Burgh tagged me with this interesting meme about my kids. I've been putting it off quite shamelessly because she did such a marvelous job of it herself that I feared following something so fabulous. I have decided that I just need to get off my shamelessly large and lazy butt and just do it already.

5 things I want my kids to know:
1. I love you.
2. Stand up for what you know is right.
3. I will always be here for you, no matter what.
4. God is in control of everything and won't allow you to go through anything that you and He can't handle together.
5. Being nice is better than being popular.

5 things you want to tell your children when they are grown up:
1. I told you so. (haha)
2. Your kids are watching everything you do. Be a role model. (Provided that I get grandkids someday.)
3. Make time for your spouse. A solid marriage is the foundation to a happy home. (Provided, again, that they get married.)
4. Make time for friends. Sometimes you need to get away from life and laugh.
5. Don't be too hard on yourself. We all make mistakes. Learn from them.

5 things you want to tell your child before you die:
1. I still love you, and I always will.
2. I'm so glad we decided to have YOU. You've made our lives complete.
3. I didn't know everything, but I knew more than you during the teen years. (Because every parent dreams of being able to remind their kids of this.)
4. I'm so proud of you.
5. Our lives are made better because you were a part of it.

5 things you want your child to know before she dies:
1. Marriage. To the right man. Being loved is amazing.
2. Parenthood. It's something you cannot explain to a non-parent. And the unconditional love of a child is even more amazing.
3. True happiness from living a life of no regrets.
4. Inner peace that only comes from God.
5. The loyal love of a dog. One that lives to please and asks nothing more than a pat on the head and a warm bed to snuggle in.

And I will tag Flea, Irene at Our Piece of the World, Pam at Random Thoughts, Andrea at Swamp Suburbia, Keri at Stripey Cat Production, and GirlyMom at The Red Door. And also Mishelle at Secret Agent Mama because she asked to be tagged. :)

Pam - You'll notice that's exactly why I waited so long after following BBM. But I'll look forward to reading your less-than-lame answers.

You know...this is so thought provoking that everyone should do this! But not me, not now. I'm not thinking profound thoughts lately...too much Dora the Explorer.

God bless.

Your answers were wonderful! I don't know how I forgot to mention anything about that love and loyalty you get from a dog (or my cats, since they are VERY social). My pets got me through a lot of rough times in college and during spats with boyfriends and with the hubby.

and um, I hate to tell you, but I tagged you at my site. :)
