Random Observations

I must be the slowest learner around. After last night's adventure with the kids you'd think I would be clued in. Guess what I did tonight? If you guessed shopping with the kids you would be absolutely right. The fact of the matter is that I love spending time with the kids. The sad part about that is that it's in theory only. Once we are actually spending that time I'm wondering what I was thinking.

I should probably not get the kids soda as a reward for staying in the van with Micah while I run into the pharmacy. Especially when that's the first stop of the night.

When the kids and I walk around the lake in the Wal-Mart parking lot headed into the store, I wouldn't think I'd have to remind them to avoid it on the way back out. Ankle deep in the middle of it, Josh declared it was deep and cold.

Wendy's does not listen when you request a plain hamburger. Unless they consider pickles, onion and ketchup plain. I at least knew enough to check first and dismantle and wipe clean the burger before handing it to Micah.

Starbucks skinny lattes are completely sugar free and completely within my diet. This makes me very happy. Until I actually get one. They taste nasty wicked and if you get anything larger than a tall, they tend to do a number on your innards. Of course, this could be good for the diet as well.

I am not for animal rights. At least when the possibility of hitting deer comes up. My first thought was "we can't afford to wreck the van!" I never gave a thought to maiming or killing the wildlife until later. I'm so self-centered.

Driving in the rain after dark scares me a bit. I've always had vision problems driving in such conditions despite the fact that the eye doctors tell me my eyes are perfect. But tonight, on the back roads avoiding traffic, I was able to get out of panic mode long enough to fully appreciate the warm, twinkling lights of homes and farms in the rainy darkness.

And people with Christmas lights up should really be interviewed on television as freaks. Maybe they'll get the hint and take them down. Of course, at this point in the year they could claim to be early for this season.

I wonder if I strapped Micah into a car seat in his room if he would take a nap? It seems to work so well in the van.

My mom taught me not to swerve for an animal. Just hold onto the wheel and stay on the road. I don't mean to sound cold hearted, but human life is more important in my book.

I hate driving in the rain at night, too!

Finally, uhm, yeah, I'm one of those freaks. I prefer to call myself just lazy, though. I'm waiting for the weather to get warm. I know if I wait for Hubby it will never get done.

One day you will learn to just leave them at home, LOL. I do my best to leave them at home. Unfortunately, my husband is to far away to stay home and watch them. Funny how being a couple of countries away can cause problems with shopping, LMAO. I have learned to do anything I need to do, on my day off, while the majority of them are not in the house. Because they will drive me crazy, and I dont have the patience. Really I dont. And when I am pregnant, it is that much worse. And I have pretty good kids. I can't imagine having those kids that talk back to the parents and act like a fool. (like my friend carries kids. Ugh - I have had to take them with me, and I threatened them with bodily harm if they acted up, LOL) (and I am not saying you have those kids, because I can bet you, you dont)
At least they waited until you were coming OUT of the store. That way they werent walking through the store with wet shoes, while parents of those other type kids look down at you like you are a bad mother. been there done that.
Wendys - Can I have his pickles? Yum, I love pickles.
Starbucks - blech. I dont like them at all.

Micah sounds like me...I can't be in the car for more than a couple of minutes without falling asleep. As a passenger of course!! I blame it on my mom b/c she used to drive me around as an infant to get me to go to sleep!

I was just telling my husband that, no, we will not be touring that house we both like because the people still have the Christmas lights (including plastic Santa and candy canes) in their yard. If they can't be bothered to take that stuff down, then I bet the place is a dump inside. For once, he was smart and agreed.

That said, I realized last night that I still haven't remembered to shove Alexis' tree in a box. Yup, it's still in her room. *smacks forehead*

I too hate driving in the rain at dark... at least here in FL most of our rain comes at 3:00 in the afternoon.

I wonder... are you going to go shopping with all the kids again tonight??

Oh, I really enjoyed reading about your shopping adventures of yesterday and today. I especially love how the words "group hug" can invoke such horror. I am definitely using it on my guys!

I just hold the wheel tight, close my eyes and grit my teeth waiting to feel a bump. Somehow I don't think that's too safe either.

Our wal-mart gets Lakes too! LOL

I love it when they fall asleep in the van!! That is the best. That is when I just relax. Everybody is strapped in and quiet!! Love that picture!

I too hate driving in the rain and at night. They used to give me panic attacks in Florida. It rains so hard there sometimes you can't see anything infront of your car.

That last pic is so classic! The car seat also has the same effect on my daughter. Sadly her crib doesn't. :(

My friend has an AMAZiNG house--really, it's stunning. Last time I was there (a few weeks ago), plastic Santa was still on the porch...plugged in. It made me feel better about my messy house at home.

I LOVE the picture of Micah. Love it love it love it!

What is it with puddles in parking lots? It is almost impossible for my kids to avoid them, it's like they are drawn by some unknown force. Drives me crazy!!!

You, my dear are a brave, brave woman.
I don't like driving at night either. And so funny about the Christmas lights up.
Micah, so cute in that carseat. It's pretty amazing how some kids pass right out as soon as the car gets going!

Have a great weekend!

I totally meant to ask you how that went down...ugh. Doesn't sound like it went well. Are you only doing calories or carbs, too? Cause I think Starbucks has too many carbs for all but a kid's milk.

I'm self centered too....by the way, Micah looks too cute sleeping in the car seat!
