Thoughts From Inside My Head, And Puppies

You've noticed that we took a break from answering questions today, didn't you? Never fear, I'll get them answered all in good time. I was up until the wee smalls waiting for Grace to give birth but finally decided that all the barfing up of her supper and heavy panting were a ruse to make me delirious with foggy-brained sleeplessness and went to bed. That was at 3:30. I was awakened by the sound of kittens mewing at 6:50. Only they were puppies. Now you know what newborn puppies sound like.

We have a total of 6, and a perfect split of 3 boys and 3 girls. (That's rare, just so you know.) We also have 2 winners in our puppy pool. What were the odds of that? Colleen at Wine Please and Michelle at Big Blueberry Eyes have mad guessing skillz. Or they're psychically linked to the inner world of the doggie mind. If that is the case I'll hook you up with a lifetime of shirts for insight into my dogs on a regular basis.

In case you haven't figured it out, I'm still delirious. I am functioning in the drunken ADHD stage. My kids have spent the day laughing at me. (Not with me.) The lady at Starbucks even got a chuckle when I couldn't remember what I needed to order. I finally gave up and said "the new cold thing with mint. Very big." It's amazing, really, that I drove into town and back and didn't injure anyone. No, I didn't go just for the Starbucks. Although it would have been worth it. It cleared my brain for a few hours and allowed me to think clearly enough to buy another dog. Because we need one. Or maybe that was the delirium acting out.

Okay, I'm rambling and I apologize. There's still Rhythm's litter due any day, and probably tonight just to add to my sleep-deprived state. All you parents of toddlers keeping you up at night have my deepest sympathies. I'm waaaay too old for this sort of stuff. Doggie midwifery pays very poorly, but the benefits are fan-tabulous. Can you hear me smiling?

Colleen and Michelle need to contact me at Etsy and let me know what it is they're wanting. The options were a dog shirt or a credit in the amount of $22 (a shirt value).

*****************

My mind is all over the place and I can't hold a thought long enough to pin it down, and I find this incredibly funny because it was a good day. I am laughing at my own stupid blunders, and it's highly amusing in a third-person sort of way.

Josh had a soccer game tonight and I learned a lot about myself there. Weird, huh? I realized that I don't dislike sports as much as I thought I did, I just need to be able to focus my whole attention on a game to actually enjoy it. Whuda thunk? Sam took the other kids to church while I got to sit and watch the game, undistracted by Micah and Co.

I do not like Sports Me. I suddenly become this very competitive thing that wanted to yell at innocent children and smack them across the field because they thought it was too hot to play, or missed the kick, or left a goal unattended. I had to befriend the little girl sitting next to me and offer her Micah's chair and snacks to distract myself. I didn't know I had it in me.

Josh won his first game of the season and played like a trooper. I was very proud of him. It was a good day indeed.

Awe! How adorable are those little critters. Aren't you glad you don't have 6 children at a time? Sheesh!

Oh they're beautiful! Congratulations! Now you have me rethinking the whole 'No dog' thing. That's not good. ;)

Ok, when do you sleep? Between four children, an online store and birthing dogs I can't imagine when sleep actually does happen?

Karen said...

Poltzie - sometimes it doesn't happen, and then I become delirious.

I hope you find the elusive sleep you so richly deserve. Congrats on the puppies.

Awwww, congrats on the pups! Here's hoping the next birth is a bit better timed for you.

So you seriously got another dog?

Another dog?? You are too funny on the helium left in your brain from lack of sleep. Those puppies are so cute, it's a good thing I'm too far away to want one. Love the pink noses!

First, let me reassure you that the more you get to know your inner Sports Mama, the more you can control her, direct her, and eventually even like her! Trust me on this. I no longer find myself yelling things at football games like "Take his head off!" or (one of Coach's personal favorites of mine) "Would you just knock him out already so he'll have to leave the game and you can break through that stupid line??"

Well, I don't yell it as often, at least. That counts for something, right? :)

And yes, you have beautiful grand-puppies! :)

I had the same Sports Me awakening. Last week I was the only one yelling. The.Only.One. And I couldn't stop. Yikes.

We are dog shopping right now so every puppy pix does strange things to me!

Stop it with the cute puppy photos! No more dogs, no more dogs, no more dogs. (Us, not you. The more the merrier at your house!)

Congrats on the new additions -- I hope sleep is soon on your agenda. Actually, I should say undisturbed sleep, but with kids and dogs (puppies) in the house that may be a far stretch.

I want to come nuzzle them and breathe in their puppy breath! (The puppies, not the sleep-deprived Rocking Pony family-- thought I'd better clarify since you're a little slap-happy right now).
Big Congrats to you, sporty girl!!

Those puppies are SO ADORABLE!!! Now I want a puppy. Let me take a minute to remember all the tough things so I no longer want one...

Okay, I'm good.

Congrats on the puppies and to Josh for winning his game! I hope you get sleep soon.
