It's Been a Busy, Busy Weekend

What a fun, fun weekend it's been! If you were here, you know that it was. If you weren't, you'll have to settle for reading about it here.

On Saturday we hosted a get-together for a few bloggy friends. It's always so very nice to meet virtual people face to face. We even met some of the husbands and children of bloggers, making it an extra fun time. The food was fabulous (don't ever let Burgh Baby's Mom tell you that she can't cook. She may have buffaloed Mr. Husband but she ain't foolin' me) and the dessert was indeed near-famous. (Colleen's apple pie is All That. And All. Mine.)

Colleen and Justin were up for the weekend and we hung out and relaxed all evening. We did have a lizard escape and a bloody lip infringe on our down time, but it could have been much worse. Trust me. At least the lizard and the bloody lip were non-related incidences.

Since those two stayed at the local Bed and Breakfast across the road from us, they can attest that life in our house is never dull. Before leaving for church this morning at 9:00 we had to chase a few horses through tall, wet fields of grass. This happened in the fields of the B&B. And because that wasn't fun enough, we were out of hot water this morning and I was forced to shower cold. It's probably a good thing that the Rummels decided against staying at the Rocking Pony house overnight.

Today the kids went to camp. It's our family tradition to stay with them through the shaving cream battle because it's every bit as fun as it sounds. Micah was not happy that he didn't get to stay when the other kids did. Clearly, he's old enough to attend camp. (As if!)

So since I'm down to being a parent of a single child this week I had all sorts of plans to get things done. That lasted right up until the time I looked at the calendar and realized that the days are just packed. How does this kind of stuff happen? I think in the future we should plan for vacations while the kids are at camp each year. It could be like a mini honeymoon. Or so I'd guess, as we never had an original honeymoon. I've got a year to plan - where can one go in 3 days time?

I LOVE meeting bloggy friends! In fact, I am now re-thinking all of my future vacation plans . . . Hawaii sounds magnificent, but I have yet to befriend any bloggers in Hawaii! Tell me, how is fall in Pennsylvania?

And the shaving cream fight - awesome! I am sure that after a week of being an only child, Micah will have completely forgotten about having to come home with you and Sam . . . or at the very least, he will be relieved to have gone a couple of days without being chased around by underwear on a stick.

Anywhere close! How far are you from the Jersey shore? Too far west? Head for a Great Lake!

Love the shaving cream fight. Burgh can cook that well? I knew I was getting a winner in that one.

Shaving cream be nice and clean, shave everyday and you'll always be...um, something.

Do you remember that song? It's now stuck in my head. AHHHHHH!

Glad you had fun though. I'm thinking of starting a bloggy Mom get together up here. I'm inspired!

I want to play in shaving cream and eat with other bloggers! No FAIR!!!

On a more mature note: You should totally get cracking on figuring out where to go next year during camp. What an opportunity!!

Jon and I didn't have much of a honeymoon either. They're overrated, right?

The shaving cream looks like so much fun! And such stinging eyes! :)

Aren't the Poconos near you?

It was entertaining watching the horse run across the front yard, sprint through the back, cross the street to your area... while sipping my coffee and eating eggs and bacon! :D

That is when i made the comment, "My parents just point to the Amish neighbor kids and ask for help."

We had a great time, and the boys surprisingly did very well for the 10 hours in the truck over the weekend. Looks like road trips can be in our future after all!

Looks like a great time!

Telling people that I can cook WILL get you in trouble. SHHHHHHHH!

It was a good time and Colleen does know how to make some kick-butt pie. I don't know if anybody noticed, but I lost my piece to a certain Toddler who just decided it was hers to steal. Silly kids.

Enjoy your week of being a singleton parent!

I now feel completely convicted by the fact that I don't know any bloggers from my own state.

Even the poor puppy got into the shaving cream fight! It looks like a blast!

I still have to figure out who else blogs in my area so that we can meet! Your party sounded like fun!

That shaving cream fight looks like so much fun!

I'm sorry I couldn't make it up this weekend. Working instead was sucky.

But... A three-day vacation? Sounds like a perfect time for a trip to the nation's capitol! I'm just saying.

man, am I behind!...stupid plurk!

We had a wonderful time...thanks so much again for your hospitality. :) It was a lot of fun and we loved finally meeting everyone face-to-face. And yes, I am VERY thankful the escaped lizard and the bloody lip were separate occurances otherwise Justin would've been stuck tending to the lip all by himself while I stood on a chair shrieking about a loose lizard, regardless if I could even see the lizard.

Have fun with just Micah at home! Hope you get all the sewing and other plans accomplished (and don't get sucked-in by the plurk-monster).
