It's Wednesday, People

Today was Steelers Wear day at Micah's school. I have this written on my calendar so that I would not forget. I was wearing my Steelers sweatshirt at the doctor's today when I realized that I didn't put Micah in his jersey. I'm a failure as a mom. The poor kid. But he did wear his Steelers coat today. Does that count?

Becky was declared good to go at the doctor. This is wonderful news, of course, but I feel as though I'm losing my ability to diagnose my own children. There were blisters on her tonsils. How can one misdiagnose that?! Still, I'm very glad that Becky does not have strep. Nor will she be spreading it amongst our ranks.

Last weekend we scored an indoor basketball thingy for the kids. (Hello, Craigslist!) Why did I not realize that the thingy was so big? What was I thinking? But boy-howdy do the kids love it. Okay, so do I. I spent half my evening in the basement shooting hoops and loving every minute of it. While I was there I rearranged the basement so as to make room for the stuff that we've accumulated. Wow. We've certainly accumulated some stuff. Funny how that happens.

Today I discovered that Febreeze makes a plug-in air freshener. We are Febreeze fanatics. Becky asked for Febreeze as a stocking stuffer, I kid you not. What's genius about this (besides the fun Febreeze scent continuously wafting through my house) is that it's actually 2 different cartridges of similar but different scents. It switches back and forth every so often so that your sniffer doesn't grow accustomed to the same fragrance. In short, it means that I'm smelling fresh every time I inhale. In our house, this is a new concept. It's nice, too.

Micah is the Air Hockey King. That boy loves the game, and his hand-eye coordination is incredible. I think his therapist would be thrilled nigh unto death. Also? He whooped me in a game tonight. I would be ashamed if I wasn't so proud.

I figured after yesterday's total WTH post, I'd do a Count Your Blessings post. Maybe I can do a weekly WTH/CYB feature. Or maybe not. I'm not one to follow rules, even my own.

If we ever meet up and there is an air hockey table around, I'll be glad to challenge your Air Hockey King. In the Auburn Family Always household, I am the Air Hockey Queen. In 16 years of marriage, The Mighty Hunter has beaten me ONCE at air hockey.

Wii Laser Hockey is another thing entirely. But I plead interference from an adorable two year-old.

Umm, whoops. But hey -- at least you weren't the only mom who didn't send her kid in pjs and slippers for pajama day at school. Nope, I've never been the mom to do that, I swear ;)

And Becky asking for Febreze? That makes me laugh. Then again, I like my house smelling like stock (as it does right now) or bacon or laundry or cookies....

I'm glad Becky does not have strep. As for hockey and hoops, count me out. I don't care to be humiliated!

I'm totally jealous of the air hockey table. That's our next purchase. I love me some air hockey...thought my elbow surgeon might not be to happy with me :)

Now I have to read yesterday's post. Sounds like today was a lot of fun. I'm thinking Maybelline might have strep, but my diagnosis skills suck.

I have looked at craig's list a few times and can never find anything! Uhg, maybe I don't live close enough to a big city. sigh.

And I hope you find out what's wrong with Becky's tonsils!! Weird??

The Steelers coat counts. It has to.

I love Febreeze (saves my no-laundry doing behind some days...) and I love the Noticeables, but one of their scents (and I really should find out which but I threw away the box) gives me massive headaches. It took a few days to figure it out but OH, they were bad.

Loved this post...I've missed you and your writing style and humor my friend!

Thank goodness it wasn't contagious - or you'd be living in three weeks of hell. I imagine Micah has no idea he missed out, so don't beat yourself up.

I think its possible that the febreeze air freshener is the best thing I have heard all day! Then again, it was a snow day so with all of the kids home I don't hear much other than whining, screaming or fighting, so it didn't take much.

We love Febreeze too! I have a can in H's room,(I mean, I guess why is obvious), one in each bathroom and kitchen and a spare one in the linen closet. I blast the bedclothes from time to time.
I will have to look into the automatic thing... cause, you're right, the Glade plugin things just stop being noticed after a while.

Oh. your patio furniture looks like giant snowcones... like you didn't know that!

My husband gets cold sores on his throat several times a year. Sounds similar to what your daughter has. They = excruciating pain and he's been tested for strep for them over and over.

I'm glad that Becky doesn't have strep. Strep throat is miserable!

I'm going to have to look into that Febreeze air freshener! I love that it changes scents.
