Shotgun Is So Overrated

So we're sitting on the patio, enjoying the company of friends over the holiday weekend, the kids are playing on the trampoline, swingset, and bikes, and we're kinda kicked back and relaxing.
But apparently Micah wasn't as happy being at home with friends as the rest of us were. He grabbed his mini-sized golf set, gets the van keys from my purse, and waves goodbye to all of us as he walks across the patio to the van. He loads up the clubs, climbs into the driver's seat, chooses Veggie Tales, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything CD, and starts the van.

I guess he was going golfing.

The boy is determined to drive. The car the kids got for the combined birthday event? Yep. Micah attempts to drive frequently. I have fears that one day he'll put the car in neutral somehow and let it coast down into another vehicle. Or worse.

As that boy gets older, it'll be more and more difficult to keep him out of the driver's seat. Lord, we'll need a whole lotta help on this one, okay?

I had nightmares like that when I was a kid. My little brother would hop into the drivers seat and drive away with us while mom was in the market. Gives me the hee bee gee bees

Oh how scary! That freaks me out with my wee ones. But hey... at least he's cute? :)

Lol! Why not? I think you may have to start keeping the van locked and the keys hidden.

Sounds like a good case for installing "The Club" on all your vehicles! Or maybe some other kind of ignition lock so the car won't start. Good luck!

Oh, dear! You know, maybe one of those electric golf carts wouldn't be a bad idea... ;-)
Never Mind! I just now thought that through!

I think I would make sure that the emergency brake is always on when the van is parked. Just in case.

Sounds like it's time to find a very good hiding place for those keys!

Very cute picture!

I agree- keep the keys higher or hidden. That would be a scary thing to think about. But you gotta love his independence!
