My husband and I were invited to a wedding last year. This in and of itself is not a big deal, but this wedding was held in a barn. I absolutely loved it! The barn floor was swept, the cobwebs cleaned away, and the decorations were awesome. Tulle was draped with twinkling lights and strung like so much crepe paper at a birthday party. Potted flowers were everywhere and vases of wildflowers were on the tables.
The best part was the fact that this was still a working barn. The bride wanted to get married at her home, so they worked with what they had. There's actually a barn near our home that has long since been converted over for use as entertaining, but this was different. This barn still had hay stacked in the mow. This barn had animals living downstairs. And the realness suited the bride and groom so well. What a wonderful couple, and a beautiful celebration it was.
When we got home we were telling the kids all about it, and showing them pictures of the bride and groom scarecrow marking the end of the dirt road to their farm. It was Luke, of course, that asked if the cows took off their horns to play music for the celebration.

Ha! That Luke is a hoot! And that wedding sounds like a lot of fun.
Sounds like fun. In college our sorority had barn dances every year. But a wedding.... that sounds REALLY fun. What a creative idea.
With weddings today getting more and more expensive, I think people are losing sight of the fact that a wedding should be about getting family and friends together and not about showcasing. I love the idea of that barn wedding. Sounds like it was a lot of fun. God bless.
Luke is SO cool. Seriously.
