I've Been Hit!

It's another tag - 8 random things. Lisa at Rollin' With the Punches tagged me.

I'm not sure I have that much randomness surrounding me. Especially since I've already listed 14 random facts. But here goes.

1. I love fabric. This should come as no surprise to anyone, but you may not know the extent of my obsession. Joanne is one of my all-time favorite stores and I've spent hours in there in one visit already. My little studio is a tiny fabric store of it's own, and yet I need more. The colors, patterns, textures... They just draw me in. If there's help for this I don't want to know.

2. There's very little that I can't do. I don't say this to brag, but basically if I'm interested in something I educate myself and start doing. Like knitting. (It's slowly coming along for those who are wondering.) One of my bigger ventures this year was learning to trim the horses's hooves. I also groom the dogs myself. And as with most things I learn, it's to save myself money. I'm just that cheap.

3. My husband proposed to me while I was getting dressed for bed. I'm quite a prude and didn't realize it was him knocking at my bedroom door or I would never have allowed him in at the moment. As it was, I had on jeans and a nightgown. I was sans bra, and although I was barely an A at the time I was acutely aware that I was without and was clutching the shirt that I just took off tightly to my chest. Not exactly romantic, but the job got done. I'll have to ask him if he remembers any of this. He may have been too nervous to notice.

4. I love to read. I used to devour novels but haven't had time in recent years. Now my reading consists of magazines since I can read an article here and there between interruptions. Well, that and preschool books. I think my IQ is slipping, but my kids love me for it and that makes everything alright.

5. I am an excellent marksman. It's been a long time since I shot a gun, but I'm accurate when I do. In high school rifely I scored 110% because I hit the bullseye more times than the instructor and got bonus points. I own the only two guns in the house, but I haven't hunted since we were married.

6. I love math. I know, I'm weird, but numbers fascinate me. Being an accountant would be my dream job. Funny, though, that accounting was my lowest grade in college. I was dating then and failed to turn in an assignment on time, dropping my grade one letter. It's always the man's fault.

7. I am an organizer. I group like clothing together in my closet (skirts, dresses, long-sleeved shirts, short-sleeved shirts) AND line them up by color (white skirts, black skirts...) And that's just the closet.

8. I hate covering windows. There are some incredibly beautiful window treatments out there but I can't bring myself to hide the outdoors. I need to see the world around me without hinderances. We have several windows in the house with nothing on them at all. The rest only have panels hanging by the sides. Our bedroom and downstairs bath are the only ones with blinds. My husband has no idea how much money I've saved him because of this. In fact, when I spent $200 for window treatments when we built he nearly had a coronary. This was the total for 15 windows. Yeh, no idea.

I think I'm supposed to tag some others with this, but since I just tagged recently I think I'll let you take over that part. If you want to share with us I'd love to read your randomness. If not, that's OK, too.

So, do you like the show NUMBERS? My sister-in-law loves that show. I am an organizer too - today we are tackling the garage (Ugh!). Have a good Sunday, Karen. See you soon. Kellan

I too love math and anything number related. (its funny because this was one of the things that I put on my 8 random things earlier today, LOL)

And I am right there with you on the reading. I used to read ALL the time. I remember one weekend I read 77 books. Now with so many kids, I dont have that much time. And when I do have time to myself in which I could read, its usually a magazine I am reading because my brain is so exhausted that I couldn't possibly focus on following the plot line of a book.

I do make time to read books on something I want to learn about as well. Like the chicken books Mickey is so enthralled with, LOL. I want to know as much as possible about Chickens (and electical systems) before we get to Honduras. hence the books on chickens and doing your own electricity, LOL.

Kellan - I love Numbers! But I haven't seen it in a while because I'm not allowed to watch TV. That's another story.

Jennifer - I read the how-to books now, too. Some of the most recent were Canine Midwifery and Practical Horseshoeing.

I could use some organization tips!! I can't seem to ever get things where they belong! Practical horseshoeing huh? That is a dirty job! Are you going to trim your own horses feet?

I could have written every single one of those, except the gun one. But if you switch the word "gun" to "bow and arrow," then it would work.

#2 is me to a T. I can and will figure out how to do anything just so long as it will save me some money. The down-side is that I have been known to start duplicating some expensive thing I found in a store only to not actually complete the project.

Yep, just today I was described as hyper-organized and I don't think it was meant as a compliment.

Thanks for not tagging. I think I'm WAY behind on my tags. Someone some where is probably mad at me.

Either we are one of those neat opposites attract friendships or we should never MIRL. I choose the first because I would miss my rockin' Rocking Pony pal.

Math completely passed me over (I'm scared of Isaac's 4th grade math), I can't sew, horses scare me and I couldn't hit the side of a barn with a bullet.

You still love me, right?

oh my goodness I had to laugh at #3! Maybe one day you'll share the whole story of how he came to propose at that exact time and place LOL

and my closets are like that too! Makes it so much easier to find what you are looking for!

I am a huge organizer . . . when I announce that I'm going to clean out a drawer or a closet, my entire family cringes because they know I won't be able to stop. An organized drawer leads to an organized cabinet that leads to an organized kitchen . . . and it goes on and on!

Oh I wish you lived close to organize me, I am organizationally impaired. I like learning how to do lots of things though, and thanks to my kids, I don't have window coverings really either, nothing stands up to them. If we all weren't a bunch of nudists, this wouldn't be such a bad thing...
