I was awakened by the sound of the whole house fan being turned on, and Micah handing the me the TV remote. (The fan switch is next to the light switch in our bedroom. When you're asleep the house fan sounds much like a jet engine being started up.)
I ran to turn off the fan, and realized there were other lights on. I turned off Becky's bedroom light, Josh's bedroom light and Luke's bedroom light. I was vaguely aware that Micah, and now myself, were the only ones awake. Oh, wait there are lights on downstairs. Yes, he'd turned on the living room lights, kitchen lights and dining room lights as well. And the TV, but it was all static. That's why he felt the need to bring me the remote. At 2:45 AM.
Who knows how long he would have been up if he could have gotten the TV to work.

Oh, this sounds so familiar!!!! Heck, if he'd done it at my house I would probably have been up to help him before all the lights had to come on.
Once again, that Micah is my favorite!
Cecily - there was a day when I was awakened by the deafening sound of my children breathing too loudly to be normal. Alas, too many years of perpetual sleep-deprivation is taking it's toll. And let me tell you, it terrifies me. What if he had turned on the stove? Or gone outside? Or practiced juggling knives?
I totally get what you're talking about. We moved Punkin from her crib to a toddler bed this weekend, (I'll be blogging this tonight) and I woke up at 12:45 to her crying, opened her door and bumped smack into her. I put her back in her bed but could hear her wandering around in there. I found her blanket over by her closet this morning. I would kill for a night vision camera in there just to see what she's doing!
My son was similar when he was about 2 and 3 years old. I woke up one morning (2 am?) to the sound of his new construction vehicle spouting off its voice 'need more power!' and 'back it up! *beep beep beep*!'. Another time he was up around the same time and turned on the tv and upped the volume. Dora had never been heard so loud!!!
I hope you (and Micah)were able to go back to sleep! Nap today?! :)
What an adorable story - all the lights on and the fan!!! Have a good day.
Man - that sounds so familiar. I have some that turn on the lights and tv's, then I have others that stand at their door and scream mommy - MOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYY until I wake up and come and get them, LOL. I think I prefer those hat urn on the tv and fend for themselves. I hate waking up though with one of them just standing there staring at me. I swear quite a few times I almost knocked them out because they scared me, LOL.
