The Dog Did NOT Eat My Homework, and Bunk Beds

This is a new one for all you teachers out there, and all you kids who pulled the classic Dog Ate My Homework scam.

Yes, folks, the dog peed on Luke's homework. What would possess her to do something so stupid? Does she not like math? Is it a protest that the kids are in school and not playing with her all day?

I really had no choice but to make him a new homework sheet. Oh, the joys of being a parent. And of course I'll have to send a note to his teacher explaining why Luke has a hand written homework paper. That ought to get me a few "don't ever ask HER to do anything" points.

In an effort to organize the sewing studio, I purchased me some incredibly inexpensive shelving from Ikea. (The store ROCKS. I could live there. Seriously. They've got beds, food, child care and shopping. What more is there in life?) But Micah took over as they were being assembled. They make super awesome bunk beds for the Round Up Gang.

shh! don't tell anyone- I've never been to IKEA. The homework- as a teacher, I thank you for writing a new one and not just telling him not to worry about it. And I really thank you for not sending the pee paper to school anyway.

Oh man. I am not the only one having dog issues. Phew! LOL!!!

I've never been to IKEA, but I need some shelves for organizing my sewing area and basement BAD so I'll have to check it out. The pictures aren't loading. I'll have to check back later. Gotta see the bunk beds.

I love IKEA! I could take anything in there home with me. I can't believe you had to hand write his homework. My sister moved to California and was on a 2 month trial for a new job, so she left her 2 cats at my parents. She mailed something to them (parents) this week and the cats found it on the counter and tore it to bits! I think they might just be mad at her. Hmmmmm Funny animals!

It wont let me post my comment :(

This is my 3rd try. ANyway, what I said was that I *heart IKEA. I would marry IKEA - if I wasn't already married that is. Well and if IKEA was actually something you could marry. Well nevermind, LOL.

I wish that there was an IKEA in Honduras, but there isn't. I will just have to have my mom mail me the catalogs so that I can drool all over them.

Yes, IKEA truly rocks.

Bwhahaha! I have to say Hope's teacher would never believe that excuse!!

Melissa - that's why I took the picture just in case. But he did his homework - I just had to rewrite it for him.

ew! I'm sure the teacher appreciated NOT getting the pee homework, just as I'm sure Luke appreciated NOT having to handle it or put it in his backpack.

And one of my cats pulled a stunt like that once. If I only knew which one of them furballs it was, I would've given him a bath, or something equally annoying to him. ;)

I love Ikea, too!

Colleen - that's the problem. With 4 dogs in the house who's to say who the piddler is? Darn animals.

I've sent the kids to school with hand made worksheets too. I see it as being involved. Because that makes me less of a dork.

Oh, and how weird is it that I have NEVER been to IKEA?

Haven't been to an IKEA yet, but I've been lusting online.

Occasionally I used to go to school with coffee rings (from my mom's coffee cups) on my papers. I was mortified! So it's probably a good thing you rewrote Luke's homework!

I try to avoid Ikea like the plague. This thing happens where all my money is sucked out of my purse whenever I go, and it's really just not pretty.

I hate when you don't know who the piddler is. We have a cat who phantom pees once in a while, but have never been able to definitely confirm who is doing it. Once I do, he (we only do boy felines, apparently) is going to owe me big for peeing on my wedding dress. Uh huh. He did. While we were on our honeymoon, it must have fallen off the hanger onto the floor. Somebody apparently didn't like my dress very much.

I don't blame the dog!! LOL!! That is funny!! I hate homework too!!
I heart IKEA!! We have one 3 hours away from me and I love it!! I love everything about it, love the carts, the cheap prices, the food, the well everything!!

I sure hope the homework soaked it all up. That teacher should be thankful you didn't just let it dry!

Great quick thinking with the homework. Yuck! I've been to the IKEA in Seattle and the Pittsburgh one. There should be one built near Cincinnati soon. Maybe one day I'll get there too! I have to come back later too, I can't see the pics.

I haven't been to an IKEA in nearly two decades and I'm not sure where I'd find one. I do, however, visit Goodwill for office furniture. :) And it's always fun to find kids curled up in shelving. :)

LOL at the dog image good one!

I know Ikea is awesome. I'm so ad they don't have one around here (I live in Indianapolis). Our friends make a trip to Chicago once or twice a year around going to Ikea. They tell the kids it's a vacation, stay in a hotel, then spend the day there. I'm trying to talk my husband into doing that.
The dog peeing on the homework is hilarious!

Ate my comment again! AHHH

I never realized the Swedes were trying to take over the world until the Houston Ikea (first in the US, I'll have you know) made an expansion to double its size..and now there is an entire city block just for parking.

DO NOT show my son the round up gang...we will have to own them by the end of the day if you do!

AFF - Get thee to a Disney store! We picked up a Buzz, Woody and Jesse for .99 each over the weekend on clearance.

Woody is Micah's fave, hands-down, and he has 5 now. One just can't have too many best friends. It's also what we request for gifts for him from grandparents because he wears them out so quickly.

lindsey said...

Ha! Who really wants the obligation of having to do something for school anyway? You just cleared yourself!

I love the bunk beds, that is the cutest thing I've seen all day!

I remember as a pre-teen, I tried so hard to get my dog to eat my homework sheet (prior to me filling it out, of course)! He just would not do it! I should have tried to get him to pee on it.

Love the bunk beds! That's too cute.

BB's Mom: Your wedding dress??? That's horrible! And I thought the cat peeing on my favorite coat was bad.

Karen said...

Jennifer - I'd love to marry Ikea, too. Call it an affair if you will. I dont' care.

For all you who've never been to the great store, find one and get there! I discovered it a few years ago thanks to a friend.

Sniz - that would be marvelous!
Vacationing around an Ikea visit. My only complaint is that they won't accept children in play area unless they're potty trained.

And Burgh - I'd have killed the cat. Did it not come out? I mean, homework is one thing, but your wedding dress is quite another. I guess Alexis won't be asking to wear it.

Debbie @ Three Weddings said...

Yeah, the pictures are finally working.

That is so funny that Burgh baby had a cat pee on her wedding dress only because I had the same thing happen. My sister had just gotten a kitten and it was at my place for some reason. I had my dress in a plastic zipper bag. The cat got in the closet and peed right on the zipper so it seeped through on the train of the dress. I can't believe that happened to someone else, too. I sat with the stain over a bucken running fresh water over it to get it out. Luckily I caught it before it dried. I was in tears! And yes, I could have killed the cat!

I like Fred & Bessie's new saying, thank you. You don't mind if I use it?

What scares me most about this post? If I shared it with my teenager, I actually think he would entertain the idea of "wetting" his own math papers and blaming one of our dogs. He hates math just that much.

Love the bunkbeds! :) Micah? Is a Genius!

Karen said...

Deb - what is it with cats and wedding dresses? Homework is so replaceable.

Flea - I'm flattered that you'd wish to use it. It's true you know.

Sports Mama - I didn't see the actual squat-by peeing. But I doubt that it WAS one of the boys. Thank goodness. I'd not thought of that. Don't tell your boys, by all means.

Momisodes said...

Ewww! I suppose if I were a dog, I'd pee on math too. Me and math are not friends. I have one word for IKEA- Meatballs! (love'em) ;)

I love Ikea too and those shelves as bunk beds are so cute!!! Those crazy dogs - OMG! You're a good mom to help come up with a new homework page. Have a good evening. Kellan

Can't blame the dog. I did the same thing to my home work in High School.

That is so funny about the homework!

And yes, IKEA DOES rock. When I first moved away from home (and to the burgh) I furnished my whole apartment with a bunch of their cheap stuff. I think their stuff has gotten to be better quality, but I loved it then and I love it now. The children's play area is da bomb!

Beats your brother ate your homework. I've also have to reconstruct several papers that were destroyed in a fit of anger by the homework child.
