I'm a Teenage Parent

Today, March 10, is my daughter's 13th birthday. Our firstborn. Our only girl. I've been a parent for 13 years, today. And she's been there for every single one of those days.

Here are 13 things that I love about my girl.

1. She's so tender hearted. She always thinks of others first.

2. She's incredibly responsible for a young lady her age. She amazes me. She's way more mature than a lot of adults that I know.

3. She makes the best baby sitter for Micah. She's a second mommy to him.

4. She knows how to laugh and have a good time. We love each other's company to watch movies together, to shop together or even cook together.

5. She's so comfortable with who she is. She doesn't feel peer pressure like a lot of kids her age do.

6. Even when it's all about her, she tries to include her brothers. I promised to take her and her friend to a movie over the weekend and she chose to rent movies instead so the whole family could benefit.

7. She's not afraid to tell me things. She'll confide in me about her friends, what they're doing, and ask for help in dealing with certain situations.

8. She's a great decorator. I ask her opinion on things all the time.

9. She's a wonderful help around the house. I love that she's learning life skills, and tell her all the time that her friends will pay her well to help them learn these things in college.

10. She's so incredibly social. I love that she makes friends so easily.

11. She's a peace maker. She cannot stand for her friends to be at outs with each other and will agonize over how to help everyone get along.

12. She looks so much like me, and yet so much like daddy. Her baby pictures and mine are only different by the clothing worn. But the older she gets the more she looks like daddy. I love that she's so much like both of us. (She's the only one that looks like me, I've gotta enjoy it to it's fullest.)

13. She's our daughter and nobody else's. We've been so blessed with such a wonderful, sweet girl.

That's so great that you have a daughter that you're so proud of, especially at the sometimes difficult age of 13. She sounds like a really nice girl. Too bad youdon't live closer to us! I love for my daughter to have nice friends like that. And if she looks like you then you must be really pretty, too.

What an absolutely sweet post!

Unfortunately kids in that age group often get a bad rap, it is nice to hear how wonderful they can be for a change.
