On The 9th Day of Christmas I Blew My Chances of Wealth

Our daughter is incredibly talented. At making noise. You'd think this would be the boy's realm, but let me tell you - noise is her thing. I'm talking made-up strangeness that just goes on and on and on and on... When you think surely your head will explode and you can't take any more because it's been well over 10 minutes with the same repetitive and annoying sound getting higher and louder without a break even for breath, you finally just tell her to stop.

I'm all for letting the kids be who they are, but there is a limit to my patience. Once the line has been crossed, the kids are flirting with their own death. And annoying noises? Are annoying. Because she's been perfecting these things for well over a decade, it's an art to her. She's pretty sure that Disney will be calling her for movie sound effects someday. She's probably right, because she is rather good at it. Annoying though it is.

She was in rare form this afternoon, let me tell you. Earlier this year we finally (finally!) have told her that once a certain limit has been reached, she'll have to do chores as a punishment. We give her fair warning and all that so it isn't like she's in the dark about when a chore will be tossed her way. This afternoon she crossed the line into choredom. And just. kept. going.

Oh. My. Word.

She said that when she makes millions because of her annoying noises someday she's not sharing any with us because of all the chores we've piled on her for them. Sad though it is, I'm kinda bummed about that. Making noises could seriously be her big break.

The winner of the room spray is Colleen from Wine Please.

Congrats! You're in charge of emailing your address my way (because I'm actually too lazy to look it up). I'm in charge of shipping that out.

The Christmas Crazy continues! I'm sharing this:

Fun, funky, and so cute. Plus, it's free to some lucky winner.

Some how I think Becky and Hope would make a million if the two of them got together. Seriously, I have never heard a kid make as much noise as Hope does.

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one being annoyed.

I have no patience for when my kids make wierd and crazy noises- none. I can hardly stand it long enough to tell them to stop. But, hey, if i would have known millions were in the works- I guess I could have left them cultivate that skill.

That NOEL sign- very fun!!

Oh, I wouldn't be able to take it! At all. Annoying noises drive me bonkers! Like fidgeting--and of course I got a fidgety child. What can you do.

I do hope she can make millions with that talent. Can she practice in another room?

Love that Noel! It's cool and funky.

OMG you have put up something that gave me the "wants" tres cute!
At our house noises are usually due to bodily functions. I made chili.
Speaking of addresses I would very much like yours!

Sumo is ... well ... over-the-top in general. But ESPECIALLY when it comes to volume. He's a joyful loud, but it's loud nevertheless.

The most annoying thing by far with the "loud" is the word "up." As in when it's ignored, the word is just repeated at an increasing pitch and frequency. There's nothing quite as shrill as that little boy voice.

But he's cute, so it's ok.

*hangs head in shame*

Ummm, you mean the loud obnoxious noises don't go away with age and maturity? You're killing me here, Karen!

And inquiring minds want to know -- where is all this nifty stuff coming from? Tell me you aren't making (most of) this in addition to your rocking shirts!

Wow your daughter dreams of making millions on noise -- cool! Creative! I just thought my Rachel was preparing to work a dull job at "Noises R Us" or push me into the loony bin so she can inherit and not worry about a job at all! Since her dad dabbles in sounds doodles, I just assumed it was genetic with no marketable value. I better think again.

The NOEL door hanger is oh so cute. I know what you mean about the crazy repetitive noises. My daughter does the same thing. I am pretty sure they are movie material noises though LOL>

I'm there with you and the annoying noises. I asked Maddie why she does them, "Cuz that's just what kids do, mom" was the answer.

Love the door hanger, btw and would love to offer it a new home.

My little sister was the Queen of Loud growing up.
Guess what? She did make a career out of "noise"...in a way. She's a concert violinist and teaches Orchestra in a public school.
And with little kids? Her ability to be LOUD is an asset.
Thankfully, we don't have it too bad yet. Sasha just likes to goose-step around the house breathing into his recorder.

maybe she would do just fine here...it's so loud i can't stand it on some days. poor dear...she's talented in some way...it's just not clear yet. those noises could make millions...but for now, they do chores!!

boys might have volume, but girls have PITCH. the higher it goes, the more your ears are gonna bleed.

I wonder how well Becky would fare in a room with my human tape recorder, who would be more than happy to repeat each noise at an increasing intensity and volume.

The Noel is cute! And the annoying noises? Glad they happen at your house. :)

I understand your pain! Do any of your kids harmonize with her, and start to make the same noises at the same time? My boys do - its probably some sort of talent that they can match pitch so perfectly with one another at such a young age, but seriously. Shut.Up.

Cute Noel!

Why is it that children make noise...just to make noise?
Oy.

Love the IDEA of all those noises. I'm just glad I don't have to hear them every day.

HOpe she makes millions (and decides to share!).

The Sports Mama said...

Well, by the time she hits the big time with her noises, she might not share with you, but as her MIL, I'm pretty sure I can grab some of that from him. And I'll share. 'Cuz I'm generous like that... sharing other people's money. :)

Maybe she's on her way to a promising career in comedy?

Could happen.

I always try to get back at the kids by making annoying noises too...but that backfires and I annoy myself. Oh well! I like the giveaway! I have the perfect place for it too!

I just had to comment on this- it just cracks me up. I could just imagine the whole thing in my head. You trying to ignore it until your head is about to blow off. She sounds like some character!
