Top 10 signs that you don't clean as often as you could. In no particular order.
1. The cleaning supplies have dust on them.
2. You're not sure what all the cleaners are used for, and can't remember ever buying them.
3. Your kids ask, "who's coming over" just because you picked up the toys.
4. It looks like the fairies went wild with the pixie dust. Except the furniture isn't floating.
5. The colors on the TV don't really need adjusted now that you've cleaned the screen.
6. It's not really an overcast day. The windows were just dingy.
7. The family notices that you've cleaned when they walk in the door. And comments.
8. You've found the TV remote that was lost for a week because you actually moved the couch to vacuum.
9. You've also found a few spoons, two plates, and half a dozen golf balls. Maybe moving the couch should happen more often.
10. Your husband asks who you hired to clean for you.

Oh man.... I have 9 out of 10.
So when are you coming to clean my house? :)
I think I have all 10 out of 10!
I know exactly where my golf balls are. They're in my pots and pans, exactly where they should be - according to Lucky, anyway!
I'm not joking. There are also some Handy Manny tools in that same pan.
The Mighty Hunter is on his way home today, so I will be re-teaching myself how to clean!
I may need prayer.
Oh, dear. Most of those are a little too familiar! Although after shooting chicken bits out the SIDES of the garbage disposal, I cleared out most of the cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink and trashed anything that I hadn't used in more than a year. So now I am down to 1 bottle of cleaner.
#3 always happens at my house!!
"No one is coming over I just refuse to live in a nasty dirty house and if you want to continue to live here (or live at all)you will help me clean it!"
Are you feeling the love at my house? :)
Gee - that list fits me to a t - except for the plates and spoons under the couch. The cats wouldn't let that happen! Can I substituted cat toys?
um. you and i were TOTALLY separated at birth.
have i told you how much i love you lately? (uh. wait. not that i love you lately, but that i haven't... aw, never mind!)
Oh my goodness are these ever true! I always find spoons, plates, cups! I swear they don't ever leave the kitchen but I find them all over. In toy boxes, under beds, in beds, under couches!!
And the other day, I was telling my father in law that I vacuumed three times that morning, and my house still didn't look clean. He said, "Well, it's the other stuff you have to pick up."!! UHHH!!! The nerve of that man. I do pick up. the kids just get it back out as quickly as I put it away.
Oh, and my kids ask me all the time, "Who is coming over!!" when I clean.
I love it! I remember when I was young and I would ask my mom when we were having company every time she cleaned.
Andrea - I am so sorry about your FIL. I always hate comments like that. It isn't like we don't spend all day picking up or anything.
Trisha -
You can substitute anything because it makes me feel better about my complete and utter lack of domestic skills.
I watched "How clean is your house" today and there was a couple who had never cleaned their house and the dust was an inch thick, and cobwebs were a "national treasure". I felt so good about the laundry Ky had unfolded, and the yogurt she spilled in the kitchen and the scramble egg and fork she somehow threw from the dining room to the sofa.
I came by this morning, but you must've been cleaning because your blog wouldn't load for me...
BWHAHAHA
I can sooo relate to every single one of those!
You already know I get this post...OH how I get this post!!
P.S. You move the couch when you vacuum? Really? Huh.
There's an old saying I live by: "Cleaning the house while the kids are still growing, is like shoveling the sidewalk while it is still snowing." The shoveling doesn't get done either. We'll get a maid when I can have a gardener, auto mechanic, handy man!
I really feel your pain. Especially about the mysterious cleaning supplies and the dust on them. I had tons of stuff in my cupboard that I had no memory of purchasing before I moved. Now when I get back I can start over, I guess, with new stuff. I'm at least glad I chucked my mop. It was ick.
wow so you did a really good job huh?
Same here.
My husband always asks "who's coming over?" when I pick up some crap from the floors. How do kids gets SO messy??
My MIL came over and said the house looked great. Then asked if I cleaned it. Yes, she is a sweetheart. Your list sounds like my list would be if I was organized enough to write it down.
You moved the COUCH to vacuum?
You're hardcore.
I'm terrified of what I'll find under there.
Momisodes and Cecily - I don't move the couch regularly. It's on casters so it moves easily when I need to look for things. Like the car keys. And once it's moved and you actually see the stuff there, you're then forced to clean it up.
I especially feel #'s 1 and 5.
And I make DearDR clean the windows.
ciao,
rpm
Wait... when were you at my house????
Ummm. Oops? Fortunately, this is a common occurence. As your children will understand when they're grown!
