The Truth Hurts

Teaching kids is entertaining. I think school teachers would have blog fodder to no end. It all falls under the "kids say the darndest things" category.

Today in Sunday School we were talking about, um, something. I can't really remember. The lesson was about how Jesus was on earth for 40 days after the resurrection before ascending to heaven. (See? I listen to myself when I'm teaching.) But we got off on a rabbit trail of some sort and for whatever odd reason were discussing how much people know.

One of the kids said he thought younger people were smarter than older people. I said that I thought older people were smarter because they had more years to learn things. He said, "yeh, they do know more, but they forget what they know."

Ouch. The boy speaks the truth. Obviously. I can't even remember what happened this morning in Sunday School.

Oh, and that kid? Was my son, Luke. *sigh*

I think he is on to something! Because as you said- school teachers should have tons to blog about....only until I get home and deal with my own family- I can't seem to remember anything when I get to bloggy time! So I am thinking Luke has it right!

My 6 year old told everyone at school that his Mom hadn't even gone to 5th grade (because you see I wasn't smarter than a 5th grader the night before) his teacher clued me in when she made a remark about me being well spoken for a non grad!

Out of the mouths of "babes!" As a teacher, you are absolutely right about having fodder for blogs. Of course, some of it is not postable!

Luke is very wise. Clearly he gets it from you.

Funny kid. One day he will be old, and will probably forget he ever said that!

Well, there is intelligence and wisdom. I can agree with Luke's very insightful comment if we are talking about intelligence. But I still think that wisdom usually comes with age. Until we forget the wisdom, too. Hmmm. Wait, what was I saying?

So, Karen, maybe it's just you. Wait. No. It's me too.

Dude - I took the bar a month ago. I forgot a ton of the stuff already and really hope I don't have to do a re-do because I'll have to start over. I really think I have gotten dumber over time, too.

Ouch. Gotta love what comes out of their mouths... although he could still be bitter about losing at basketball?

And rabbit trail is one of my favorite phrases that I never remember to use!
