Maybe it's a tumor? Perhaps Mr Cannon needs a little check up? Good luck I hope the diagnosis is a simple one to fix! Visiting your blog and not seeing pictures would be sad...
Hey! Mine's been doing that too lately. Not all the time, but sometimes. I thought it was just something I was doing wrong. It's been a while since I actually used it. It must be something with the flash and shutterspeed. But I normally use it on full auto so it should be all in cync. Now I'm really curious about what is going on.
My gut is telling me that you're horizontal photos are fine and if they are, you're hand is obscuring a part of your flash or your flash sensor when you shoot vertical. Pay extra attention to where your hand is when you shoot vertical - I'll bet the shadow goes away.
I was going to say the same thing James did- it looks like something with the flash, not necessarily with the picture itself. Especially if it's not happening all the time. Good luck figuring it out :)
that looks like what happens when I turn my camera vertically - then my fingers end up in the way of the flash and half the pic is dark. I have to remember to move my fingers under the camera when I turn it vertically.
I'm impressed that you got good answers from people so quickly. My response is more along the lines that your camera simply doesn't like you. Which is why I don't (yet?) own a fancy camera. Fingers crossed -- pun intended -- they help the pics for you!

I think your camera is simply passing out from the cuteness overload it sees through its lens.
I'm glad they could help you..I didn't have a clue!
Strap. Mine bugs me all the time when I turn it on its side.
My Canon started doing that, but on the horizontal. It was a bent shutter pin.
Yep like everyone said before, it looks like your hand is in front of the flash! i do it all the time!! lol Cute pictures!!
