Errands are NOT for the Faint of Heart

Well, not with 4 kids in tow, anyway. Would I be the worst mom in the world if I admitted that I cannot wait for school to start so that I can shop alone?

I had to round up the family bright and early this morning to get the 10 year old to golf lessons. As I was pulling into the Club he said he didn't feel like it today. Why couldn't he say that as we were loading the clubs into the back of the van?! But I'm glad that I didn't make him go because my daughter had a doctor appointment, and a thunder storm developed while we were there. I would not have been able to go get my son when the outdoor lesson was canceled. Good call, Son. :)

Now the doctor's office is a place that we spend way too much time. The dear Dr. actually told me once that they love large families like ours. It's insurance for them keeping in business, what with contagious diseases and all. Share and share alike...

To while away the hours we spend waiting to be seen, the kids have a routine they've developed. It starts with counting all the balls on the border around the room. Then they read all the brochure titles in the box on the wall. ADHD, Acid Reflux, Asthma, Diarrhea. And that starts a very loud and animated conversation on poop. The baby gets excited and starts playing with the window blinds, climbing on the table so that he can jump and hopefully attain an injury, and hiding in the under-sink cupboard. By the time the doctor actually comes I'm at the end of my rope, someone is bleeding and it's amazing that social services haven't been called.

After 4 shots, a dozen threats and a power outage, we're out of there. There are several more stops to make, but I want to crawl in a closet and scream. Please tell me that I am normal. That other moms, at least sometimes, wish they could do errands alone. Anyone?

I had the same kind of day myself! Back to school shopping should really be done alone, I thought I was going to be crazy by the end of the day (and its only 4pm!)...

You were at the grocery store today and that *was* your kid, huh? Admit it! :D

Only kidding (I actually have and like kids in real life!) Shhhhhh...it's a secret.
