Tag, You're It!

Cecily tagged me and I've gotta spill 7 random things about me. I love randomness. (Does that count for one?)

1. I grew up on horseback and horses were my life until I married. I was into show jumping, timed events, western pleasure, trail classes and trail riding. My horse was my best friend and daily companion. I rode almost every single day while in high school. I miss that equine therapy.

2. I birthed 2 of my 4 children without medication. Not on purpose either, but because it just happened. Epidurals scare me and I never had the courage to go through with them. I was drugged to within an inch of my life with the other two. I may still be suffering side effects of the medication. Either that or I've lost my mind. I'm not sure.

3. I have an obsession with area rugs. I just realized this and am working on a remedial program. It seems that I have quite a collection of them, yet find them annoying to have to wash all the time. Still, I am drawn to their aisle and find myself purchasing more because they're just so fun.

4. I lost a tooth when I was 17 and have been "toothless" since. My senior pictures and wedding pictures are all sporting a smile with a hole in it. I've never had the desire to have a false tooth to fill the gap. (Imagine my hubby's response when the Air Force offered to give me a false one for FREE and I said I wasn't interested. If you're at all familiar with the government, they only offer one-time deals.)

5. I am very patriotic and have been known to cry when I hear the national anthem played.

6. Despite a love of gardening, I do not have a green thumb. It is decidedly brown. And yet I keep trying. My plants must cringe when they see me coming. I am in the process of slowly killing a ficus as we speak. Although my African violet has been blooming all year and I feel incredibly earthy about this.

7. I love to host parties and have guests over. But I am a lousy hostess. At our last party I caught two guests fumbling through my kitchen trying to make more iced tea. I loved that they felt at home enough to do this, but realized anew that I will never be the Hostess with the Mostest.

And there you have it, 7 things you really didn't need to know about me but were forced to read anyway. And because I love randomness, and because I have to tag 7 other people, I want some friends to dish also.

Hey Karen - I loved these answer. I have a rug obsession too and I loved your #7 answer - how funny. I have been tagged 5 times in the past week - so I will include yours with the others and I will be doing it soon - thanks for thinking of me. See ya.

Karen I am super behind on your posts and I feel bad! My stupid computer date got changed and for some reason it made it so a lot of newer posts were invisible to me (I only realized this when I decided to use our desktop to check out blogs today rather than my laptop).

So what I'm saying is that I have checked your blog, I just didn't really see it...what a dork I am!

Can I still be your friend if I've only been horseback riding once in my life and feel totally okay with that? Gracie is nutso about horses, but I get the impression she wishes they all had wings and a horn or that they were pink and purple with shiny manes...our concept of horses in this house is warped.

I'm much more freaked about the idea of lots of pain in child birth than the needle. Drug me up Doc! is my mantra.

I love area rugs too! You can totally change the look of a room with a good area rug!

I love that you get all misty at the National Anthem! I cried like a baby when I was pregnant last year at an assembly at Isaac's school when they said the Pledge. It was embarrassing. I also cried during the Halloween parade that year. Ugh.

Thanks for humoring me by doing the tag. I love getting to know you better!

Cecily, you can always be my friend. I don't think we'd go horseback riding together in the near future anyway. :) I cried so much over patriotic things when pregnant with Micah that I debated naming him something silly like Patriot. And you're not a dork. It's an honest mistake. Plus you're allowed to get busy every now and then what with the kids and all. You're such a dear. :)

I will post my version of the tag this weekend. Its late now, and I should be in bed - since I have to get up early to have this baby tomorrow, LOL. So I will post on Saturday or Sunday. I will think about it though until then ;)
Have a great rest of the week!

I love these posts! You can only get so much from a profile - it is nice getting to know a little bit more about the people that I enjoy reading.

(I am with you on #5. Sandy Patti sings a version that makes me well up from the first note. Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA as well. Patriotism is a good thing!)

You are not the only one that loves to have people over but is a lousy hostess. It's gotten to the point that our friends know if they want something to drink, they're going to have to go get it themselves because I will NEVER remember to offer them anything. The sad part is that I don't even feel bad for it.

Thanks for tagging me! I think I'm going to save it for the weekend so that I can think of some good randomness.
