Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With String

I love getting things in the mail. Hand written cards have gone by the wayside, you know? While I am one of emails's biggest fans, I also lament the passing of a personal note sent through the good old fashioned postal system. Nothing says caring quite like that.

I love getting packages in the mail, too. That is even more fun. Especially when it's the gifts you've been ordering for the kids, and not so much the replacement part for the fridge's defunct ice maker. This week has been incredibly fun. Every day I've been getting a handful of fun things to open. I got this one day:

It's a boo boo bag for the kids. Genius, no? Slap that thing in the freezer, then sit his bottom on the bruise. He's your clumsy kid's best friend.

I got a book for my mom for Christmas. I debated reading it first, but decided to wait until after she reads it and then ask. I decided to wait because I know it's a good book. I checked first this time. The one I got for her two weeks ago? Not so good. Good thing I chose to pre-read that one. That would have been more awkward than getting thongs for Christmas.

One day I got this:

Becky wants to repaint her room, and while I'm usually game for this, I'm not feeling the spirit move this time. I figured some colorful wall dots would be a nice compromise. I got them in the colors she chose.

I got shirts that I ordered so that I can continue sewing into the wee smalls of the night. It's always good to have work to do.

And then I got this in the mail.

Holy Huge Hips - is that stuff good. The kids read the return address of English Toffee Anytime, and since it's one letter short of coffee, they decided that it must taste nasty and have avoided it. I've not corrected them because it's mine. All. Mine. I've also hid it so that they cannot decide to sample it in my absence. I know that the minute they discover the buttery yumminess of this stuff they will inhale it in large quantities. I can't afford for it to be so wasted.

Merry Christmas to me.

Karen Deborah - he absolutely loves it! Thanks so much. It talks, which makes it all the more fun for him. It doesn't take pictures but that's since I don't have to worry about him breaking it.

Oh.....I love that kind of mail, too!!!!! The boo boo bag is so cool. I wonder if it could replace the zillions of bandaids we go through a year for those oh so hard to see "bleeds."

And the dots, brilliant. I'm going to have to remember that one.

I love getting holiday cards and letters in the mail so much that I don't even care if there are bills mixed in among them! If it required just a tiny bit less effort and money, I would send 'holiday' cards in the middle of the summer just to brighten peoples' day. Aww, screw it . . . that's what 'Forever Stamps' are for, right? Send me your address and I will put you on my list!

I love that boo boo buddy. Several of my "kids" are expecting their first soon. I may just have to go on a shopping spree! Thanks for the idea.

I got some toffee in the mail the other day too, it's to die for. It's almost gone. And I am the only one who eats it. So much for the 9lbs I just lost. UGH!! So, does that tofee melt in your mouth? It's really the best stuff I have ever eaten!!
