I've Survived Another Year

Here's a trivia question: why do we eat pork on New Year's?

Can you believe that another year has come and gone? I am still having a hard time with the fact that the millenium was 8 years ago. Life just keeps moving on, doesn't it? And yet, if I could, I wouldn't ever go back. I have few regrets, I love the life I have lived, and I look forward to the future.

Here is a picture show of our year in review. Since I was silly enough to stay up (with the kids) until well after midnight, I'm running on low energy and even lower brain cells today. Enjoy!

Josh's pine derby car for the Boy Scout race.

Easter is always fun. But weirdly, it's also a hard time of year to get all the kids together at once to color eggs. We've learned to roll with whoever is here at the time. You snooze, you lose, Becky.

You'll never guess what we got to tour this spring.

Becky and Tommy in the big show world. (And me, along for the ride.)

There's nothing like a pool in the summertime. Especially at our house.

The boys discovered the joys of gardening. This was quickly followed by the horrors of weeding and snapping beans.

Becky and Josh have shown pigs at the fair for two years now.

The boys love playing outside in the dirt. Go figure.

You can't forget the great 80's party.

Happy New Year, everyone!

That's no rocking pony pulling that cart, that's a real live miniature horse! Pretty cool. Looks like you had an awesome year.

Thanks for visiting, Rising Rainbow! Actually, Tommy is a registered UK Shetland. He's the cutest little thing we've owned.

Did you change your template or is my compute just loading funny?

The holiday portrait is great.

An attempt to rationalize a reason for eatting pork on New Years Day that is based only on a few random facts. You have Pennsylvania Dutch (or perhaps German) heritage, and somewhere along the the way someone's parent didn't like sauerkraut. The exact reason for pork is probably because pigs are bigger than chickens and smaller than cows. . .

It looks like your family has had a very busy year!

Deb - I changed my template. Christmas is gone so it's time for a change. I do that often.

Janell - welcome to my blog! I guess I worded that oddly. Why is it a tradition to eat pork on New Year's? (And could you mean that not everyone does this?!) It's because a pig cannot look back (it's neck won't turn).

I like it. Just wanted to make sure my lack of sleep wasn't playing tricks on me!
