I'm Not Really Here

Remember that Priceline hotel we got? We're taking shameless advantage of that sucker. The room was reserved for tomorrow night but since the weather is supposed to get bad we've called and got a room for tonight also, at the same rate. The desk clerk was shocked at the low, low rate, but assured us that we'd get the same rate tonight as well.

So we're headed out of town for a tiny little get-away tonight, leaving sick kids and a broken dog in the care of my parents. (If I should have any guilt over this, I don't. I feel like I need a break, and I'm not talking about a Kit Kat.)

I have to say that I'm so proud of my husband. Horses have been my love since I could walk and talk. He was first introduced to them when we were dating, and I tried to keep it to a minimum. I feared he wouldn't strike a fancy to them and I just didn't think I could handle my second love's rejection of my first love. It was enough that I sold my horses when we got married and moved 4 time zones away.

He's making up for it. Last year I drug him to a 2-day horse conference. And he enjoyed it! This year he asked to go back. So we're going to a conference, and we call it a romantic get-away because we're old and lifeless like that.

See ya on the flip side of the weekend.

You deserve every minute alone with him. It sounds like the perfect weekend. You'll get your energy back and be the best mom ever! You can aways hope everyone is over their illnesses by the time you get back.

Enjoy your getaway! That's great that you pulled your husband over to the equine side. I broke mine in by having him watch mine for a week - now he wants a herd.

What conference did you go to?

I remember at one of my jobs they wanted to put all the grocery stores they owned in Priceline. Then it bombed a year later because quite frankly, it would take people 3 hours to buy their groceries online trying to get the lowest possible price. It didn't really fly that well.

Your going some where again! I'm so jealous take me with you, I like horses. My kids can watch your dog and who cares if they get sick, they need to build up a good immune system anyways. I'm sure they would love your parents.
