It's So Hard To Get a Good Lobe Job

They come up with all kinds of things, don't they? They being people with too much time on their hands at work. Or too much research money to figure out how to spend. Or some combination of the two.

Know what I saw on TV this morning as I was fast forwarding The Incredibles to an incredibly good part for the little man? Ear lobe plumping. Bet you'd never have guessed that one, huh? And this brings me to the question of why?

(And just as an aside, if you click on that little link above, there is a whole other world of things that I failed to mention. There are some incredibly vain people walking around out there.)

A good breast enhancement I can understand. I mean, if I could just get myself evened out to be one size across the board, or chest as it may be, I'd be happy. Finances hinder me, and so does my vanity. I managed to attract a guy and keep him for 15 years being lopsided. Who needs to be equal, laterally speaking? Maybe he can imagine being with two different women at the same time. Or not. Kinda not a great thought, that.

And a nose job is sometimes just plain necessary. Ever have your nose broken? Me neither, but I hear that sometimes it can leave things, um, let's just say not so visually pleasing. And you'd want that fixed.

And even things like taking away those crows' feet and laugh lines I can understand. I'm just silly enough to think that they show exactly how one lived their life and shouldn't be something to hide. But just not on me, at the tender young age of 38. Maybe 88. Then I'd be proud to have others know that I spent my time laughing and not frowning based on where the wrinkles are.

But an ear lobe plump? Come on! What man gossips around the urinal about so-and-so's plump ear lobes? (I could be wrong on this one, but it's a pretty strong hunch.) Cosmetically or medically speaking, what's the reason?

Now I'm all worried about my ear lobes. Are they pleasingly plump? Or should I wear my hair down in shame because they're just not plump enough?

What will they think of next? I like the commercial for the little pads you put on the bottom of your feet at night to remove all the toxins from your body.

Good night Irene! Wear your hair up proudly, woman! There are enough plump parts of my body that I'm attempting to unplump. Why on EARTH would I want to plump earlobes?!

Sorry if you missed the sarcasm, Flea. I'm happy with the things on my body that I can't change. Or shouldn't. My spare tire is another story altogether.

after having my kids and getting my waist stretched out to some 43 inches and nursing that second baby within an inch of my sanity, I can completely understand why women would want boob jobs (to at least get back what they lost post-nursing...I know I lost a good cup-size *sigh*), and tummy-tucks (I have one particular stretch mark that actually growls at me in the mirror--terrifying, really). But ear lobes? And calves?
What next? Elbow extensions? Actually, with only being not-quite 5'1", I wouldn't mind having leg extenders... :)

Ha ha ha! My daughter hates her ears, maybe she'll think it's a good idea. We'd be happy just to get my son a second ear! That's a worthwhile surgery. Love the idea of lopsided= two women at once!!HA HA!

Well - that is just ridiculous - as my niece would say! I do need a leg lift though - you know my legs are drooping - sagging - sliding - *sigh*.

Have a good Thursday Karen - see you later. Kellan

I think my lopes are too plump! I hate to wear earings because I think they are kinda chunky!! LOL!! Can I get them reduced?
I am all about a tummy tuck!! Someday when I am rich and more vain, I will have one done!! Yes, I will!! I wish I could invent something so silly and make lots of money!!

The picture on the side of your blog is kinda small but your ear lobes look good to me!

There aren't to many things on my body that I'm looking to plump at this point.

Anyway I don't think you have to worry about your lobes...everyone just stares at your uneven chest...lol! ;)

I share your issue also...ain't it grand?

my lobes... plumper!?! no thanks. I can't believe the way people waste their money.

I would totally get a boob job just so my girls don't stare at the floor all the time anymore. But plumper earlobes??!! WTH?! Maybe if my earlobes were so plump the rest of me wouldn't look so plump!

I'm pretty sure the last thing that anybody notices is the plumpness of ones ear lobes. I mean, men are busy staring at our racks, which are simply too far from our ears to allow for even a little bit of a periphial view. And if all a woman can come up with when she's tearing down another woman is her earlobes, well then, the other women is darn near perfect.

I can also understand the little toe removal. I mean really, what does it do? The nail on it isn't even worth paying attention to, and it's always the toe that gets jammed running around the corner and hooking it on the wall. What an unnecessary little digit.

The only time I could even conceivably imagine someone getting a lobe job would be those silly fools who stretch their earlobes out to freakish proportions with grommets. My daughter says it's called "gauging the ears." I call it just plain gross.

Interesting post - I'll add it to my list of "things that make me go hmmmm".

The existence of that surgery is a sign that God thinks we have too much time and money on our hands!

Ear lobes? Oy, is there any part of the body that can't be "corrected" anymore? Of all the things I would want to enhance....that would not be on the list. I have much bigger fish to fry!

Wha...??? Who looks at earlobes? Seriously, why would one care about the fullness (or lack thereof) of ones lobes? I'm with you, I just don't get it!!! Weirdos. :)

That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time! I remember when I was pregnant earrings and shoes being my salvation as they were the only parts of my body staying THIN!

Yikes. What a colossal waste of money.

Why would you plump? I don't get plumping. Sucking stuff out? Yes. Please sign me up. Putting stuff in. No thank you.

Plump earlobes? What?? That sounds crazy to me! What happened to the days when we only worried if we had earrings or not!

OMG. Really? Do you know who I can contact to get this done? I was just looking in the mirror and noticed that my earlobes looked sort of deflated. I mean, I want to look my best!!!

Never mind that I have flat hair, dry skin, a post-preg jelly roll (rolls, let's be honest), am sitting around in spit-up stained pjs (until 3 in the afternoon)--I really feel that having my earlobes done will make me feel better. Will make my life more complete.

Yuck! Not for me either! My ears will be just fine when I'm old, thank you very much!

I was JUST thinking that I needed a good lobe job! You know, because I have so much money just sitting around doin' nothing. Geez. What some people won't spend money on!

Still...now I'm going to wonder about mine all day.

When I was in high school, this girl who was more popular and skinnier than me commented off-hand to me that my earlobes were fat. (Hers were thin, just like the rest of her.) I know that she never thought anything of it, but that gave me a HUGE complex! From that moment on I hated my grossly deformed earlobes and coveted skinny ones. I still think of that 25 years later, so this cracked me up! I saw on Dr. 90210 that having your second toe shortened is another plastic surgery thing that is big on the west coast. I'm trying to imagine how such a thing can really change your life like the women who had it on the show claimed.
