Sunday Afternoon Fun

We colored Easter eggs today because I vowed to be more on the ball than last year. We colored eggs after the occasion last year. Yeh, go ahead and criticize.

Micah loves to color eggs. You cannot fathom the joy this brings him. Well, maybe you can. But it does make him happy. The other kids enjoy coloring eggs as well but not so much after Micah has had a turn. He starts out well enough, dipping an egg into a color, stirring it around, fishing it out and placing it back in his tray. But by the third or fourth egg it's a free-for-all and he's tossing eggs around and double dipping at will. His eggs are easily identifiable as the brown ones with spiderweb cracks. But he had fun and that's the part that counts.

But my plan to be more on the ball backfired. Yes, I'm in time for the holiday this year, but tomorrow I'm going to have Micah's birthday pictures taken. I know, I'm behind on this as well. I was waiting for his horrid haircut to grow out a little. Plus he had pink eye and a horrid cold. Snot and bloodshot eyes aren't the best of pictures. But tomorrow's pictures will be better. Sort of. He looks like an Easter egg. His hands are dyed blue and he has a splashed spot of red near an eye.

Brilliant parenting on my part. I just can't seem to win at this game.

And on a totally unrelated and quite nasty note, we will not be doing an Easter egg hunt in our yard this year. I walked around last week while it was warm picking up after the dogs and realized that they are eating waaaaayyyyyy too much stuff that they shouldn't be. I frequently find chewed up plastic toys or crayons and throw them out, but it's the things that they ingest completely that are causing problems. I found orange, yellow, red, blue and green doggie piles in the yard. I am not kidding. If it wasn't totally nasty it would have been cute. But I can't take the chance on the kids (Micah in particular) finding the few colored heaps that I missed and mistaking them for Easter basket fodder.

What cute pictures - what fun! We haven't colored eggs in a few years - maybe we should do that this week! Have a good Sunday, Karen - see you later. Kellan

What great pictures! I haven't colored eggs yet - if it happens before Easter, it will only be the day before Easter....I'm so bad at the good mommy thing!

I just bought egg dye today with hopes that we'll color on Friday. Apparently I'm surrounded by Catholics at work, so we'll be closing up early. I think it's weird, but I'm game for an early dismissal.

You aren't the only one that's late with birthday photos. Actually, I think I'm later. I did take her on her birthday, but I didn't like how they turned out. Two months later, I still haven't made the appointment for the reshoot. Oops.

BTW, I LOVE the built-in the kids are sitting on. It's perfect with the yellow walls.

Great pictures - especially the last one. :) We're not coloring this year as we'll be traveling. And I just laughed and laughed at the colored poo!

Whoa! That's a lot of eggs! And, yucko about the dog piles. Although, I totally giggled.

Yes, we do color a lot of eggs. We do a dozen per kid because less than that just doesn't give them much to play with. More than that is just more hard boiled eggs than we can eat.

Got any eggs I can borrow? Great pics!! It's okay if he has died fingers for his birthday photos. He's an Easter baby!

Cute pictures. :)

The only colored eggs we have at my house are the ones that come out of the chicken that way.
