Where Do They Learn These Things?

Shopping with Micah is an experience best appreciated when it's done live. And I'm willing to loan him out to anyone wanting to know what it's like first-hand. Seriously. It's even more fun when he's tired. I have a knack for shopping when he's at his most tired.

Tonight I did just that. Again. With his 3 siblings in tow. I'm a glutton for punishment like that.

Micah decided that the cart needed some packaged pudding while I was chatting with a friend in the aisle. The other kids liked the idea of pudding and helped him get the largest case they could find.

While trying to decide what Hamburger Helper I should get with the BOGO coupon, Micah thoughtfully pulled all the tags from the shelves. All of them. On both sides of the aisles. The kids, who were to be watching him, did just that. And were highly amused.

Inspired by his entertaining abilities he did a somersault on the floor, then put his hands down the front of his shorts and wiggled his fingers out the leg holes.

And in the frozen foods aisle he opened the door and licked the inside of the glass. The kids nearly rolled on the floor over that little antic, which of course inspired an encore performance. On every. single. door. Enter the mama who looks over her shoulder to see what could possbily be so funny.

Dear God in heaven, please give me patience to get these kids home without injuring one of them.

I really, really hope that we weren't being followed with a surveillance camera. We only have one other grocery store in town and it would only be a matter of time before we'd be banned from that one as well.

I think the key word in this post was "tonight." Isn't your daughter getting old enough to watch them when you run out in the evening? Try it, you'll love it. I live for getting to go to Target by myself after dinner.

Sort of pathetic, I know...but I'm sure you understand.

Ok - I admit it - I'd laugh if I saw Micah lick the inside of the freezer door, too. *hangs head in shame*

I should probably be embarrassed by this....but.....Inspired by his entertaining abilities he did a somersault on the floor, then put his hands down the front of his shorts and wiggled his fingers out the leg holes- totally makes me laugh!! As does the licking freezer doors. I have to go now before I pee myself!

I have to admit, I LOVE watching other peoples' children in the grocery store - and just picturing all of Micah's antics gave me a huge fit of the giggles! You can join me in the running for sainthood (I bi-passed the grocery store, and took both kids bra shopping a couple weeks ago . . . Victoria's Secret will NEVER be the same!)

Is it bad that as a mom I probably would have laughed at the fingers out the leg holes? Granted, the freezer door incident would have relegated said child to the cart for the rest of the trip, so I think we're about even ;)

Good luck with the next time you go shopping. For some reason, my kids love it, which makes it sooooo much easier for me.

I firmly believe someone at that store has got to just LOVE it when you bring Micah shopping! He is totally providing job security to some poor, underpaid night stocker dude who has to go around and clean those doors and re-hang those tags. :)

You have to admit, it IS pretty funny!

So funny! I could just see him pulling off all those tags and licking all those glass doors - HA! You have your hands full when you go grocery shopping - ACK!

Have a good day, Karen - see you - Kellan

My kids and I would have followed you through the store just for joy of laughing. I think it's wonderful when my kids make each other laugh - even when I have to cringe and apologize to everyone around us.

Too funny!! I've been in your shoes though, and you feel like everyone in the store is staring at you. It's rather hard to get upset with them when they all are laughing like that. I usually lose my stern face and start laughing too. I can't help it!!

OH girl I think I have you beat!! LOL!! Yesterday I was in Children's Place and my three year old, (who always goes commando) took his shorts off to try on a pair of new shorts. All this while I am across the store. An employee yelled, "Mamm Uhm, your sone is naked." Nice right!!
This was after I took the three kids in a dressing room with me to try on bathing suites !! Why do we torture oursleves??? LOL!!

Okay, licking the glass is very funny! Oh my gosh-the things we get so frustrated about at the time and then laugh about later!By the way, I don't think I thanked you for trying the PMS Brownies. Thanks! I have a new recipe from France on my blog. You should try that one!

I have a sinking feeling that everytime Evie does something like that she will have a giggling audience too. And Jon would be the leader of the audience. I am so in trouble.

I think I'd crack up watching him lick the doors. That's adorable. And, the other 3? Shame on them for egging him on.

Oh, I'm with you! Isn't it just painful? We've been eating stale cheerios and watered down apple juice for 1.5 days b/c I don't want to load everyone up and go. My hubby's back in town today and then I'm off. Alone. To.The. Grocery. Store. Luxury.

Your little one is a born clown. Enjoy it now while you can. Really. Honest. Or just don't kill him.

Oh, I'm dreading the day! Peanut still sits in the cart, but she always wants to sit in the car ones where the kid sit in the front. I thought this was a great idea -- at first. Until I discovered the straps didn't hold her in very well so she could get out. Also, if I park too close to either side she reaches out and starts shopping. I always have to make sure she didn't "take" anything before I leave. I try to avoid using these!

I'm sorry...I have not stopped laughing for the past 5 minutes. Although I'm sure my day is coming...

Why is it so much funner to read about that kind of thing happening to someone else?

Karen said...

I laughed so hard, I could hardly finish reading it to my husband. We have four small children and have experienced many outings that resemble this one. Bra shopping on my own with them was the WORST!!!
