It's An Uphill Battle

I'm still bottle feeding one little Scottie puppy. Two have graduated on to move in with mom again, but the last one is still struggling a bit.

Luke asked yesterday why I was feeding them from a bottle (the first in 8 years of raising puppies, so he's confused). I told him that they were weak and didn't have the strength to eat on their own yet. So today when he came home from school I was feeding the last puppy. He asked where the others went and I was thrilled to say that they were with their mama. He asked if the bottle baby was still too weak. Yep, she was. But hopefully she'll come along soon.

I think I need to stop watching so much TV and ride my bike. Probably up hills because it builds more muscle than just riding on the flat.

Poor kid. Now he lives in mortal dread that he may not be able to feed himself because his muscles will atrophy while vegging on the couch.

Oh poor Luke. If that was the case then I would be long gone!! I love how kids see things. Life would be so boring with out them.

Hey, if that's what brings about motivation, don't set the boy straight! Actually, patent the program and sell it for tons of money. You just solved the obesity crisis!

He should be afraid. Send him out. Give him chores. Let him motivate his siblings!

Oh Luke.....he is such a sweet kid. Glad to hear the two are strong enough to be with the momma. I'm sorry you lost so many. I love the new header!!!! Everybody has grown up so much.

While I'm absolutely in favor of regular activity... you could set his mind at ease a bit, and just tell him that its the milk that will make the puppy stronger. :) Then he'll just drink more milk.

I'm glad the puppies are doing better too! Good luck with all your babies.

See - because I'm a bad mommy I'd be all "That's exactly right! You'd better go out there and start riding!"

Again, one of the funniest kids I've ever met...even when he's not trying.

Yep. He and Gracie would be FAST friends. Between his bike riding for strength and her spinach eating for memory they HAVE to be!
