Getting a Christmas Picture Is Ridiculously Hard. Who Knew?

Family photos are elusive things to get. You'd think it would be easy, wouldn't you? I mean, you plunk the kids down near each other, ask them to look in your general direction, and snap a picture. And trust me when I say that I'm not a perfectionist in this area. I love the photo that shows some character and personality.

But seriously, kids? Out of 385 that I took today, we got 6 that are workable. Six. That's like a 1% success rate.

I'll be quick to admit that this is a stellar shot.

Except that one of the kids walked right out of the picture.

This is typical in our family.

And when you try too hard, you end up with something like this.

And because we have boys in our family, this is almost a given. I'm threatening to put it on Christmas cards.

And to prove that one good photo exists, here it is. Happy Halloween, and Happy Thanksgiving. Merry Christmas. And Happy Easter. And Enjoy This Because It'll Be Another 5 Years Before It Happens Again.

Always a butt shot in our family, too. Boys. ;)

On a typical day, I take 100+ photos. I keep maybe 2-3, and sometimes my reasons for keeping a photo are highly suspect.

Good to see that your daughter kept her cell phone close by. :-)

I love them all! But that last one? Just perfect. You have such beautiful, beautiful children!

(And I am with Burgh . . . I think last year's attempt at a group shot involved nearly 100 shots and took several days, lots of bribes, and a good chunk of my sanity.)

That is an awesome picture! I have actually photoshop'd our last couple of Christmas cards. You know, remove this head from this shot and stick it on that one!
