Invented By Parents, Of Course

So we're driving down the road - Becky, Micah, and I. I entertain Micah for a while with some Look Cows! and See The Christmas Lights? and How Pretty!s. And then Becky and I start chatting. About this, and that, and a few hundred other things. (We're women, what can you expect?)

And then I hear an air leak and FREAK THE HECK OUT. Micah decided that he could unlock the sliding door (since he was sitting right there) and slide that thing right open. While we were driving down the highway. At 60 miles per hour.

That, my friends, is why child locks were invented. Not only to protect your child from it's own adventurous ways, but to prevent mommies from having heart failure right there on the 4-lane.

I think my heart just stopped, and I wasn't even there!

I'm just waiting for one of mine to try that. Apparently, it's in their genetic code as my aunt and my cousin have both fallen out of moving vehicles as children.

They both escaped unharmed, but let's not tempt fate, shall we? Yikes!

Holy cow! I would have wet my pants...sheesh! That is one thing Micah DIDN'T need to learn!

Ahhh, such a smart boy. The good news is that he didn't also unbuckle himself, right? Out of curiosity, what was his reaction to the door being open while flying down the highway?

Ah, yeah. I can't believe that the doors even open when the van is in drive. I suppose that means mine will too. I don't want to test this.

Oh, and Becky looks lovely and grown up. Sigh. Do you want my 'where does the time go' speech? I have a good one...

My goodness- that would have freaked me out! At least he was fine and nobody had a real heart attack!!

My son once did this to me while we were turning a corner in a very busy intersection. Heart failure...yes, I think that is the word for it.

Eeks! My heart almost stopped and I am just reading your blog! I am glad that everyone was strapped in (can Micah get out of the seatbelts yet?) and no one went bouncing across the highway.

Bravo for child locks!

I can only imagine. I nearly had a heart attack chasing mine down the driveway when he jumped in his wagon and let it roll down the hill.
